Cow Parade

The Inspiration Challenge on SCS today is using the Cow Parade for inspiration. You can see lots of examples of the cows by clicking here. I was inspired by two cows, Madame Lavache Goes to Market and Miss Palm Beach.  I loved the fun dress on Miss Palm Beach but loved the idea of sketching out a hat and basket to create a farm "going to market" scene. I had just used Anna Wight’s little Bo-Vina in yesterday’s challenge but couldn’t resist using her again today.  I have several cows but Bo-Vina has the cutest face of all of them.

Madame Lavache Goes to Market

Miss Palm Beach

I stamped Bo-Vina on designer paper, Watercolor paper and another piece of scrap watercolor paper.  I needed to be able to layer her lovely "go to town" dress, have her feet show and still have her head show.  I stamped the chicken and her chicks from Anna’s set, BoPeep’s Sheep and then painted all the images with reinkers.  I sketched out the tree, barn and fence and painted as well as sponging green on the ground and leaf area.  I filled in the leaves and grass area with the mini fern stamp. When the scene was complete I started building the layers to Bo-Vina’s dress and hat. She just had to have eyelet trim around her color and needed a little flower and ribbon on her hat.  Her basket if filled with eggs that she sells in town every day.  She reminds me of Caroline on "Little House on the Prairie" taking her eggs to Mrs. Ollsen’s store.

  1. Wow, that is some “go-to-market” dress. She could win some award — not sure which, but some award –maybe for her collar alone. This just makes me smile. Another wonderful piece of art!
