Cupcake Wedding Cakes

The Inspiration Challenge on SCS today is pictures of several very interesting wedding cakes by Cupcakes by Vancouver. I was more inspired by the name of the company than the wedding cakes themselves.  I took out Whipper Snapper – Anna Wight’snew set Sweet Sentiments and used the tiny little cupcake in the set. I have seen so many adorable cards made with cupcake cake images but I thought I could make one with the single stamp.  I stamped the cupcake several times on scrap watercolor paper and watercolored with Pretty in Pink and Close to Cocoa. I cut all of them out to pop up individually on white cardstock to create the cake. I used rolled up glue dots to create small dimensionals and adhered them all together in the form of a cake. I stamped the bottom of the cake with a little foliage image in my new Kittie Kits-Outdoor Master set to create a foliage base of greenery for the bottom of the cake. I then stamped two more sprays of the foliage to cut out and pop up in front of the cupcakes and to add dimension. I attached the sprays of greenery with rolled up glue dots. I cut strips of pink grosgrain to create the little ribbon embellishments for the spray. I used a little pink organdy ribbon to tie the small bow for the top of the foliage spray and to complete the little wedding cake foliage arrangement.  It is so much more interesting to me than a cake plate. I cut out the scalloped frame with a Nestabilities dies and popped it up on mounting tape to create another layer of dimension and to highlight the cupcake arrangement.  I added red glitter glue to the top of each cupcake and created little glittery red flowers in the floral spray arrangement. I added white frosting to the top of each cupcake with white Liquid Pearls and also added little dots of it to each scallop of the frame.  What a fun project. Sherry (BadSherry) always tells me how good it is for me to step out of my box.  I really did with this card but I love how it turned out.

  1. Hi Kittie. I have to say that I am one that has not really embraced the cupcake rage, but your card could just change my mind. It is beautiful. I swear Kittie, I think you could cut an ad out of the newspaper and make it stunning with reinkers!! This is just a fabulous card. I know how it feels to make a card and then just love it. I did one of those yesterday. I am still glowing. But that is the rarity for me. Not so everyday like you. Once again I admire your creativity and artistic ability!
