Dirty Dozen/Dirty Dozen Alumni Monthly Challenge

Time is sure moving quickly. I can hardly believe it is already the 20th of the month and time again for our DD/DDA monthly challenge. Emily –WaterPixie hosted the challenge and the main theme is Halloween with a bit of a twist. We had to use "googlie eyes" but were not allowed to use any kind of pumpkin. Yikes!  No pumpkins!!

KC Candy Corn I had to go to the store and purchase googlie eyes as I have never used them before. I am not really into scary Halloween projects so I decided to go with fun candy corn images and sentiment from Rubbernecker Stamps. I stamped several masks of the smaller candy corn image and cut them out. I started stamping and masking the images to create a pile as found in a candy jar. I stamped several extra on scrap watercolor paper to paint and cut out. I stamped the large candy corn last and left room to put the sentiment. I painted all the corn in sections. I started with the large center section using Distressed Dried Marigold and embossed with clear embossing powder. Ranger ink and reinker takes a long time to dry so it is easy to emboss with. I painted the lower section with Adirondack Lemonade and repeated the embossing. I finished the top portion by watering down white craft reinker and embossing.  I wanted the top portion to look white but still to allow the lines of the candy to show through. If I had painted with pure craft ink and embossed with white embossing powder the lines would have been totally covered. I painted the yellow background with a Lemonade wash. I attached the white ribbon to the image layer and finished the card by attaching a bow and several popped up corns.  The googlie eyes were the last thing. I was only going to use them on the big corn but hey……I had a bag of 50 so why not go for the gusto. By the way….the sentiment just kills me.
