The Rubbernecker Design Team has some celebrating to do. Bev Gerard-TexasGrammy and Juliana Swanson-Julesiana have both accepted Sherry's invitation to join our team full time. There will be lots of creative energy coming with these four talented stampers.
Starting Monday, October 20, the Splitcoast Challenges are going PINK for the week in honor and celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. If you'd like to donate your pink challenge card to this month's Cards for a Cause, which is Chemo Angels, check this thread for details.
The Technique Lovers Challenge on Monday was to use watercolor pencils and Twinkling H20's with a major focus on pink. I wanted to create a soothing scene that represented peacefulness and hope. Although our challenge was to create a card for health awareness my mind was focusing on a dear Splitcoast friend who lost her husband suddenly over the weekend. She is a treasure to me and I wanted to create something from my heart to send her that displayed peace, hope and encouragement.
I stamped the chair on the watercolor paper and the umbrella on a piece of scrap to cut out to pop up. I colored the images lightly with the watercolor pencils and then pulled the color around with my watercolor brush using the H20's. I used watercolor pencils to draw in the ground, grass and water and brushed them with the H20's paints to fill in the scene. The inks have such shimmer and seemed to make my whole scene glow. I washed the sky with very watery blue paint and then added buttercup yellow paint to create a sunny glow. I dabbed a brush filled with drier, thicker mustard green paint to create the murk of the grass and water's edge. The mustard paint glows like gold. I loved the look so I ran some of the heavier dry paint up some of the tall flower stems to add the gold glow to them as well. I used a dark pink pencil and H20 paint for the little flower tops but ended up adding more color with a marker to give a little more definition. YOU SEEM TO GET MORE OUT OF A STAMP THAN ANY OTHER PERSON WHOSE WORK I HAVE SEEN. YOU USE THE SAME STAMP, BUT BY ADDING SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT HERE AND THERE IT LOOKS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. I REALLY LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR BLOG!!!
