Blogger Challenge 6

I am hosting the Rubbernecker Stamps Blogger challenge today and the challenge is to create a project using paper piecing.  I had lots of fun working with this Vintage Santa image. I wanted to keep in line with the Splitcoatstampers Breast Cancer Awareness focus this week and use pink for my challenge project. I pulled out BasicGrey Sultry designer paper to create a fun and colorful Christmas card with non traditional colors.

I stamped the Santa image on the brown designer paper with black craft ink  and then again several times on different pink papers with the black craft and embossed with clear ep to cut and piece together to create his colorful coat. The trick to paper piecing is building up your pieces and layers by what you want to be outstanding. I started by cutting and piecing the main coat to the image on the brown cardstock. The next  step was to add the boots and then the pink fur trim over the coat and boots. Next I attached Santa's face and beard. I used a Copic marker to color in Santa's face on the light colored paper and to make the beard show even better. I finished by attaching the hat, star and birdhouse. I added the embossed snowflakes around Santa, created snowy borders at his feet with cuttlebug snowflake embossed layers.  I thought the little gingham bow with the  "Joy" sentiment was the perfect finishing touch.

  1. I already posted my dismay on the blogger challenge!! HEHEEEE. I’ve been working on this VERY IDEA (and, yes, using this IMAGE!!) for last weeks challenge. I’m dismayed ’cause mine will be no where as cute as yours, but I think that I’ll try to give it a go anyways.

  2. Kittie, there is paper piecing and then there is PAPER PIECING! I think this falls in the latter category. It looks like you have about a million (okay that might be a bit of exageration!) pieces on this card! It is really very cute! Love the paper you chose for this santa.
