Home Sweet Home with Plaid

KC Boards and Beams 2

The Ways to Use It challenge on Splitcoaststampers Thursday was to use plaid. I really like plaid patterns but many times find them harder to use than you would think. I dug through my stash of designer paper to see what I had as I sure didn't want to pull out my plaid maker templates. I found a piece with a purple, green and white combination and thought the colors would work well with the Papertrey Board and Beams townhouse.

I stamped the fence, masked and then stamped the house and ornamental tree, all with Brilliance Black. I watercolored the images with Lovely Lilac, Wasabi and Going Gray. I watercolored a simple little border of flowers and greenery along the fence, sidewalk and yard behind the fence.  I added definition with a green and purple marker. I lightly painted drapes in the windows to to pull more purple into the scene to match the plaid paper.  I used my SU scalloped border punch to create the background fence layer and little sponge green along the bottom and painted in fence lines at each scallop. I thought the fence added a little bit more interest. I am so thankful it's Friday.  I haven't felt too well the last day or two and am looking forward to relaxing over the weekend.

  1. A fabulous card, I’ve got to go check out that stamp set. I have the one with the other house, is this house on that set or is it another? Oh my gosh, isn’t that terrible when you have so many many sets, you can’t even remember all the images on them . . . ugh . . . I’m terrible!
