Two posts in one day. I know it's a shock as I haven't been posting much lately. I am home on vacation this week and wanted to play in the Color Challenge before I go off with my husband to a movie and lunch. I chose to use the Stamp Oasis Evergreen Tree being offered today free with a single purchase at the Rubbernecker Treasure Hunt event. I love holiday scenes with snow and evergreen trees. I bet you already figured that though, huh? I used two of the three carolers in the Carolers, Christmas Light Post set in the Rubbernecker Winter Collection along the the light to create a night time scene with Christmas carolers. What fun I had making this. It was very time consuming with all the cutting but well worth the effort. I added a few more colors to the required Chocolate Chip, Tangerine and Kiwi but it was worth it.
I stamped the light post and carolers on scrap watercolor paper. I also created a mask of the light to put on my main background layer to keep the light area free while I stamped several trees. I wanted to be able to put a glow around and behind the light and didn't want tree branches to be too full in that area. I stamped the trees with Kiwi Kiss and then used a dry brush to brush on Kiwi to fill in the tree branch areas. I used a dry brush to fill in the trunk and a few branch areas with Chocolate Chip and to make the trees look complete. I sponged on Banana around where the light would be attached and then sponged on Brocade Blue using my cloud template to create night sky. I used the template to protect most of the light glow. I painted all the images with reinkers and then cut out to pop up on the scene. I used Liquid Applique to create the fur on the caps and coat and also to create the falling snow in the background. I cut a piece of vanilla cardstock to fit the width of the card and then cut with my deckle scissors to create an uneven snowy edge. I ran the piece through my wavy crimper, attached with mounting tape and then attached the carolers. I added Stickles to the girls and bow and used Diamond Glaze to create a glass look to the light. Sadly the photo does not show how sparkly the Stickles really looks on the card but I still think it is so cute.
