Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge 10- Sparkle, Glimmer, Shine!

Today is Rubbernecker Stamps Blogger Challenge. Shelly is hosting the challenge today and she has given us a great one for this holiday season of making sparkling, glimmering and shining cards.

KC Poinsettia I combined my challenge project with SCS's Tuesday color challenge  to use red, black and kraft. These really are not easy colors to use for Christmas but I snuck in some olive green and decided it works fine.  I stamped my Rubbernecker Winter Holiday Poinsettia image with black craft ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. I masked out the flower and then stamped the Pine Sprig image around the flower with Olive craft ink and embossed again. I colored the poinsettia with Distressed Fired Brick and Adirondack Red Pepper reinker and used a little Distress Peeled Paint for the little center inner leaves and painted the berries with Summer Sun.  I stamped an additional poinsettia on scrap kraft, painted and cut out to pop up on the original flower to create dimension and interest.  I used a tiny dauber to stamped Real Red craft ink berries around in the greenery, painted little black shadows around the berries with black craft ink and created tiny little berry stem tops and embossed with clear embossing powder. My final touch was to add Diamond Glaze to the berries and around the petals and to apply Diamond Dust Glitter for sparkle.  It is sad that this effect does not show well at all in the photo. I layered the image with black cardstock that I made shine with versa and clear ep.

  1. Kittie, I’m chuckling as I view this fabulous design. You are not going to believe this, I designed an image very similar using the Me & Carrie Lou stamps last weekend. I haven’t blogged it yet because I’m painting several and want to get them all going a day at a time through the holidays. Great minds think alike, eh! {{{hugs}}}

    I love the pine sprigs!!! and the glittery poinsettia is just beautiful!! The high contrast of the black and red is so dramatic–great for a glittery card!
