Rubbernecker Inspiration Challenge

Broni's Inspiration Piece

Broni hosted the Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge today and her inspiration piece is gorgeous.  I love the colors and was especially inspired by the yellow, green and red. I wanted to create a project with lighter shades of blue but that had touches of red and green and a highlight of yellow.

KC Pine Sprig Set

I chose to work with the Pine Sprig Set in the Rubbernecker Winter Holiday Collection. I thought it would be fun to jump out of my box and try to work on glossy cardstock. I didn't actually go so far as to use my brayer 'cause Michelle Zindorf I am not….but I did use my ink blending tool and it worked the colors together very well.  I stamped the sprigs on glossy cardstock with Artichoke Craft Ink and then used a mini sponge dauber to create the berries using Ruby Red Craft ink.  I touched up the berries with a small brush and Black Craft ink to create little stems on the berries and shaded around them for definition.  I embossed with clear embossing powder.  I sponged on So Saffron and then Bordering Blue to create the background. I love the touch of yellow coming through the sprigs as it reminds me of moonlight coming through branches.  I wanted to add a touch of white for snow so I touched the scene with little bits of Liquid Applique', dabbed with my fingerand then heated.  I got a little heavy in areas but I still love the look.  I created the three little squares below with the smaller pine sprig in the set.  The layout for this card is for the Wednesday SCS Sketch Challenge.

  2. Kittie, all your posts the past few days have been so cute! Winter is definately your thing my friend. Your snow scenes are just perfect. I’m still enjoying the one you mailed me last year. It’s up on a bulletin board in my stamp room. It reminds me of you my friend! TFS
