Christmas Tree Box

KC Holiday Mini 2

The Technique Lover's Challenge on SCS Monday was to make a Christmas Tree Box.  A wonderful tutorial and template by Brenda Quintana was provided for us. I printed the template out on Papertrey white cardstock and followed the scoring and cutting directions to create my box. Well…actually I printed one on plain printer paper first and used it as my experiment piece to see how to stamp around it to make the images look right going around the three sides of the tree form.  I decorated the box by stamping a fun little scene using Rubbernecker -Stamp Oasis Little Lovin's Christmas Mini 2 set along with trees from the Stamp Oasis Winter Holiday Collection- Evergreen set and Kittie Kits The Moose is Loose set.  The Evergreen Tree set images were ones that Rubbernecker Dave and I decided to resize last summer for the Kittie Kits The Moose is Loose set.  I love having matching trees of various sizes to create scenes with.

I stamped the penguin images and masked off to stamp the trees all around them. I colored all the clothing with markers and filled in all the trees using a dry brush wiped directly on the ink pad. I sponged the sky using an Inkssentials Ink Blending Tool (this is my favorite tool for sponging and I keep forgetting to mention it to you) and a hand cut cloud template. I used a small sponge dauber to apply white craft ink to the ground area of the scene and applied falling snow by using a tiny brush dipped in white craft ink and embossed with white embossing powder. *Hint -make sure the inks in your scene is all very dry before applying embossing powder or it will stick everywhere.  I use my heat gun as a guarantee.  I applied stars and snowflakes cut with a Cuttlebug die for added interest to the fun little scene and attached the triple star at the top with bows to match the hanger.

This little box would be a perfect gift container to hold chocolate, embellishments or just about any small thing you can think of.
