Treasure Hunt Tuesday and Stocking Hung With Care

It’s Tuesday and that means there's a Treasure Hunt at RubberneckerYou can find all the details on the Rubbernecker Stamps Blog .   Every one of our Rubbernecker Design Team members are so very talented and have so much to share. While you're at the site you need to check out each of the team's blog posts because a couple of them are offering up Rubbernecker Bucks blog candy.

KC Petite Stocking Card Holder Closed The Technique Lover's Challenge on SCS today was to make a Pop Up Gift Card Holder. The link will give directions for this fun and easy gift card holder as well as providing a YouTube presentation.

I chose to work with Rubbernecker Winter Holiday Collection images. The petite stocking is just the perfect size for a small card front and the little candy images were perfect as well. I hand cut a gingerbread boy out of caramel cardstock, sponged with Adirondack Ginger ink to create a baked look and painted on the frosting with tiny brush and white craft ink and embossed with white embossing powder.. I stamped the candy with distress inks on white cardstock and embossed with clear embossing powder and cut out. I stamped the stocking on watercolor paper and watercolored with Distress Fired Brick and Peeled Paint.  The top of the stocking was done with Liquid Applique', spread evenly with my finger and heated. I then sponged white craft ink on the LA and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I used a sponge to apply a brown mantle effect on the top of the card and then stamped with a pine sprig with olive craft ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. I attached the ribbon on the bottom of the card and then attached the stocking with dimensionals. I attached the bow and then attached the gingerbread boy and added the lollipop, peppermints and candy canes. I thought it would look cute to have a few candies that fell out of the stocking and to create more interest for the card bottom. Don't you wish you could simplify by filling Christmas stockings with old fashioned cookies and candies and have Christmas be about the "reason for the season" instead of the rush and spending?

KC Petite Stocking with Credit Card

I thought I would include a picture of the card partially open. The inside is a simple fold with a cut to insert the gift card in.

  1. Oh my!!
Some one would be SUPER happy on Christmas morning with this card!! I really like how dimensional this card is!! It would be perfect nestled in the branches of the tree!! That candy spilling over is marvelous, too!
