The Inspiration Challenge on SCS's today was to pick an inspiration piece from Images Under Glass. I choose an adorable snowman image called Woodland Snowman to work with. I loved the trees and the light surrounding them and the snowman. I tried to capture the light with my scene but got a little carried away with yellow craft ink and clear embossing powder. I stamped the small tree, masked, stamped the snowman, masked him and then stamped the large tree. I painted the hat and nose with a brush. I used a mini tipped sponge applicator to apply lights to the tree with yellow craft ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. I sponged craft ink around the snowman to show light reflecting on him and embossed with clear embossing powder. I wanted to put clear embossing over the lights so I could apply a dark blue sky around and not blur into the yellow. I masked the snowman to protect him and used an ink blending tool to sponge the sky with bashful blue, bordering blue, and not quite navy. I wanted to show a lighter blue around the lights and snowman and then create darker shades up in the top of the sky. I applied Liquid Applique' to the ground area, dabbed with my finger to spread it evenly and heated. I used a small sponge dauber to apply white craft ink to the snow area and embossed with white embossing powder. I used the point of my paper piercer dipped in a pool of Liquid Applique' to create the tiny little snowflakes and heated. I cut slits with a craft knife to push my ribbon through to create the scarf, tied and attached well with glue dots. I attached the ribbon across the corner of the scene and tied a multi loop bow to finish. If you would like to see my ribbon tying tutorial on creating this multi loop bow check it out on the Rubbernecker Stamp Company Blog.
