Framed Friend Garden

When I got home from work tonight I was happy to see the Way to Use It Challenge on SCS.  Julia challenged us to use some sort of frame for our project.  I thought it would be fun to frame a flower garden and knew my new Rubbernecker Wild Flower and Floral Silhouettes would be perfect to play with. I love the flower image in my project.

I cut out a 5 x 5 inch square and stamped it repeatedly with the greenery image to create a framed border on the sides and bottom.  Each time I inked up the image I misted it  before I stamped to make the ink apply more evenly. I cut out a portion of the framed square with a square coluzzle and then cut out all the greenery portion of the frame with snips to allow a soft green border for the frame.  I cut a second piece of paper and stamped  and masked the flower several times to create my pretty garden.  I watercolored with Rose Red reinker which actually is such a strong color of ink that it looks more of a bright red. I adhered the garden layer to the base and then used mounting tape to mount the frame over the garden image. I love the sentiment “In the Garden of Life Friends are the Flowers”. Isn’t this so true! I hand painted little red flowers and greenery on the sentiment.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Wow, what a beautiful card. Your watercolouring is absolutely amazing. I’ve added your link to my Makes Me Smile Award on my blog, I hope you don’t mind. I’d love to be able to watercolour like you do, so very artistic. Thanks for sharing what you do,
    Debbie
