Wacky Wednesday # 10 Your Favorite Technique

Wacky Wednesday Button girls Shelly is hosting our challenge this week and has given us free rein to make a project using our favorite technique.  I didn’t have to think a nanosecond to decide I wanted to create a scene using brushes and sponges applicators.

KC Farm Scene 5

A couple of weeks ago Bev posted a card on her blog that inspired my project. She created a scene and used an oval Nestabilities die to cut out a portion of the scene.  Portions of the tree and coop were cut out and brought attention to the chicken and chicks as the main focal point. I loved the idea and thought it would work great with my cabin and tree scene.

I wanted to create a scene that placed the tree in front of the cabin but my tree tops are always free formed with sponges. I stamped the tree and sponged the green top. I created a mask by placing a Post-It over the tree and held both pieces of paper up to my work light so I could see the image. I drew out the simple line of the tree, cut it out, covered the tree and stamped the cabin. I watercolored the tree and cabin and used small leaf images from my Kittie Kits Outdoor Master to fill in the ground and tree.  I sponged in the sky area with blue and added cranberry flower accents around the landscape. I cut the circle with a Nestabilities die leaving the cabin as the main focal point and allowing a large portion of the tree and ground area to be cut off. I attached the circle to a plain piece of white cardstock. I cut a frame with the next size larger die, attached the ribbon and brads and popped it up with mounting tape over the main image. The simple gingham bow and the little circle tag with the mini chicken and chicks was the perfect finishing touch.

  2. Beautiful – all your pieces look like masterpieces – what I like best about this – no Copics! Makes me think if I practice ( a lot) I may be able to make something so beautiful with all the items I already have at home – you are amazing!

  6. Kittie!
What a cute card! The scene looks great in the circle, with only a portion to see.
