Good Sunday morning! I haven’t been able to post regularly as I have had lots going on at work and home. I was thrilled to get to settle in and play in the Saturday Inspiration Challenge on SCS. Stephanie always finds the best inspirational pieces for us and yesterday was no exception. She directed us to Bonjour Mon Coussin, a company that creates thematic graphic designs on decorative pillows.
I was inspired by this fun Wind pillow with the circles, sailboat and bright colors. I narrowed my color choices down to aqua, yellow and olive and dug into my Prism paper to find Frosted Teal and Candle Glow Medium yellow.
I stamped the little sailboat from Kittie Kits Fun in the Sun on watercolor paper, painted and cut out with my craft knife. I punched out several aqua circles for the water and clouds using a 3/4” circle punch. I adhered the circles to a 3”x3” piece of white cardstock allowing the textured side of the cardstock to show. I left the top of the circles free of adhesive to tuck the boat in behind and I trimmed off the edges of the circles with my paper cutter. I placed the boat in behind the waves and used balled up glue dots to pop up the sails. I loved the cluster of storm clouds and rain on the inspiration pillow and chose to use three aqua circles for fair weather clouds on my scene. I punched out a scalloped border in aqua and layered it with the yellow and adhered it to the white card base. The scalloped border and polka dot knot was the perfect finishing touch for the clean and simple boat, water and cloud scene. Clean and Simple is not my forte but I sure enjoyed this project and once again realizing that less is so often “more”!
