A Fun Week of Stamping in Revue

I’ve had a busy work week but still had some time in the evening to play in some of the SCS challenges. I am posting a week in revue to share my projects.

I had a rough time trying my hand in the Technique Lover’s Challenge to create a brick wall effect in my project. I am so challenged when it comes to cutting paper in unique ways.  I messed up my cuts but I had worked too hard on the little scene I created to scrap it.

KC Serene Spring 2

I stamped the image on watercolor paper and painted with a brush and reinkers mixed with water.  When I started my cutting I instantly realized I had cut the first strips wrong but just had to continue.  So…..the middle line of the bricks is perfectly in line instead of being off set.  I sponged each brick around all four sides to give an aged appearance. I decided to use additional brick pieces as a base for my scene.  Note how crooked those bricks are as well!!!  Although this was a bit of a challenge I really enjoyed it and will try my hand at this again.   Stamps:   SU Serene Spring   Coloring Tools:  Reinkers and Brush

The Clean and Simple Challenge this week was a color challenge to use teal and one other single color along with a neutral.  I chose to use brown and white to highlight Rubbernecker’s Garden Angel.

KC GArden Angel

I stamped the image on watercolor paper, colored with a brush and reinkers and cut out.  I did sneak in a little green for the flowers in her basket but other than that I stuck to the color limitations.  I stamped the angel again on the plain white cardstock base so the feet and branches would show, punched the border and popped up the image. I created a sort of canopy over her head and popped it up and out but that doesn’t really show well in the picture.  Stamps:  Rubbernecker Garden Angel   Coloring Tools:  Brushes and Reinkers

The Tuesday Teapot Challenge was based on the Breakfast at Tiffany’s theme.  This challenge is always based on a story by Cindy Motherway (Mothermark) and we can write our part of the story any way we want. You can read my little make believe story here. We could do anything that represented fashion, pampering ourselves, etc.  I chose to play with the Rubbernecker Fashion Icon sets to create a card that represented the type of clothing Audrey Hepburn was famous for wearing.  She was always so perfectly in style.  Just kill me if I had to wear another pair of white gloves.

KC Fashion Icon 456 2

I stamped the images on white cardstock with black craft ink, embossed with clear EP and cut out.  I created the three little panels and punched the eyelet border and pierced the edges with a needle to create eyelet. I mounted everything on a gray designer paper and a gray base card.  I thought the little pink ribbon was a perfect embellishment.   Stamps:  Rubbernecker Fashion Icon 455 and 456

The Inspiration Challenge on Saturday provided a site called Echo for our inspiration.  Here is a link to a scarf that inspired my Easter Bunny project and the colors that I chose.

KC Easter Bunny HoldingTulips

I picked this retired SU designer paper as I thought it perfectly represented the scarf.  I stamped the Easter Bunny on watercolor paper, painted with a brush and reinkers and cut out.  The layering is very simple over the white eyelet and the punched border of green.  I thought the perfect finishing touch was the little multi loop ribbon on the flower pot. Karen B Barber was our inspiration artist for the Sunday Featured Stamper Challenge.  She has a gorgeous gallery and I found so much inspiration there.  Here are two projects I created for the challenge.

KC Sunflower

I loved this Rubbernecker Sunflower image from the Bold Florals collection.  It was a treat to color with my brush and reinkers. I tried my hand at shading the image a little with a light gray marker but it didn’t turn out that well.  Luckily, it didn’t detract from the gorgeous image. I sponged a light yellow highlight around the stems to create a glow and to set off the lovely flowers. Stamps:  Rubbernecker Sunflower Bold Florals

My second project yesterday was so much fun.  I used a Stampavie Mo Manning image and combined her with beautiful designer paper by SU, striped grosgrain and a scalloped eyelet border.

KC Mo M End of Summer

I stamped the image on watercolor paper, painted with a brush and reinkers and sponged in the pale blue sky and green grass. This is very simple and easy but so very sweet.   Stamps:  Stampavie Mo Manning End of Summer

I hope you have a wonderful week.

  1. My father would have loved your brick wall card. He was a brick mason – a master who created beautiful work. He would look at your whole picture and see the beauty everywhere. Thanks

  2. Kittie, all of your cards are just fantastic as usual. I’ve never tried the brick technique and now you’re making me wish I had never gotten rid of my Serene Spring set. I’ll have to use another one when I try that.
