I had a fun and relaxing three day weekend and got to enjoy some fun stamping time. I always look forward to having an extra day off from work but somehow the times seems to fly by so quickly that Monday morning rolls around before I know it. As always I enjoyed playing in the SCS challenges and here are some of the projects I came up with.
The Friday Free for All Challenge was to use the out of the box technique. The challenge was to stamp an image and cut around a portion of it and to use a die to cut to around the image. The trick was to allow the cut out portion to stick up out of the line. It took me three times to get this performed correctly. I am so sad with paper cutting techniques. I used Helz Loop Lop Gift Box by Stampavie for this challenge.
The Saturday Inspiration Challenge provided Crate Labels web site for our inspiration. I was inspired by this Bull Frog label.
I turned to this fun Rubbernecker Frog Collection image to play with. I think he is much cuter than the inspiration frog. I stamped, painted and cut out the frog image and set aside. I created a pond scene on a separate piece of watercolor paper with sponges and using my Kittie Kits Outdoor Master and the cattail images from the Guy Stuff Collection. I popped up the frog in front of the pond scene and added some grosgrain to embellish. I love how this turned out.
I got to do two projects for the Sunday Featured Stamper Challenge featuring Dara. She had lots of flower projects and some fun cut out cards.
I used the newly released Rubbernecker Floral Collection for this project. The background images are from the Rubbernecker Background 2009 Collection.
This is my favorite project of the weekend. I used Adele Enjoying Fresh Apples from the Stampavie Sarah Kay collection. It is a cut out card that allows the front scene to spill over and continue on the inside of the card. I stamped the girl and masked her to create the scene around here. I sponged in the green grass area and blue sky and then sketched in the apple tree trunk and sponged in the tree top. I filled in all the greenery with my Kittie Kits mini fern from the Outdoor Master. Using snips, I cut around AdeIe and then used deckle scissors to cut around the top of the apple tree. I used the same sponging and sketching technique to create a line of apples trees on the inside of the card. Finally, I used a red marker to add a few apples on the ground and showing in the trees. I think a sentiment will look good embossed in black in the grass area on the inside of the card.
I sure hope you have a great week.

Fantastic, so love the expression on that frogs face, your blue flowers are just gorgeous and the little scene of walking down the path is just too sweet!
