Weekend Stamping Fun

I had a three day weekend but not so much for fun.  I had to be off Friday to have a root canal.  Ugh!  But it didn’t keep me from being able to play in the challenges. It’s been pretty cold, wet and rainy this weekend and it has been especially nice to stay inside. in the warmth of my stamping room.  I have three weekend projects to share.

KC Boatloads of Love 5

I made this card for the SCS Free For All Challenge  (F4A) Friday.  the challenge was to use a sentiment repeatedly on our project.  I thought it would be fun to use “you float my boat” in the waves area of the image.  The image was painted using water with reinkers. I like the simple popped up square frame and the puffs of smoke popping out of the stack of the boat.

KC Babies 7

Isn’t this the sweetest baby card image.  It is from Rubbernecker Baby Collection?

I stamped the images on watercolor paper with black Versafine and heat set. I always have a bit of a hard time trying to color in an open space around images like the sky background of this image. It seems my ink wants to run on into the images as well. I learned somewhere (I can’t remember where I got this hint) that if you paint an area lightly with plain water and not allowing the water to enter the image line that when you add color it will not run past where the original water line was. I used this technique here and it not only protected the images but also made the aqua sky color apply more evenly. I popped up additional bunnies and the box for the jack in the box and the adorable little duck pull toy. I thought this would look really pretty layered on pure white and it gave me the opportunity to use my new punch around set.

Here’s a closer look at the darling little stuffed animal images.

Valentine’s Day isn’t far away and I made this card using an image from the Rubbernecker From The Heart Collection. I love this Victorian style heat and roses envelope. My Heart Envelope was stamped with versa on watercolor paper and embossed with gold. I watercolored the images and cut out. The envelope portion of the image was cut out and layered over the base image. The embossed polka dot background and red scalloped borders seemed like the perfect finishing touch for this card.

Here is a hint to avoid TROUBLE. Make very sure your red ink is DRY before you start assembling your project. It seems red reinker takes a lot longer to dry even if it is heated. I had this card almost completed and smeared red ink over a couple of the envelopes. One could be fixed with a wet wipe but one had to be redone. Even after all that I smeared a little of the red ink again but figured it was as good as it was going to get.

KC Hearts 2

Here’s a closer look at the image so you can see the pretty detail of the roses and leaves.

  3. All great cards… I really love the Valentine card. I thought I’d have started my Valentine cards by now, but haven’t made it. As always, seems I’ll be down to the wire getting them done. Already not doing well with the 2011 card making goals!

  4. love your idea for stamping the sentiment for the waves, how cute, your baby card is just precious and like your layering on the valentines card. Sorry to hear you had such a bad start to your weekend, but looks like it was a very creative one in the end 🙂
