Good Monday morning! I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. We had terrible storms here in Florida this past week and we were without power for more than two days. Ugh! I was relieved to come home on Friday evening and find the lights on in the house. Woo Hoo! It was fun to get into my stamping area and make some cards over the weekend.
My first card today was made for the Saturday Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoaststampers! The inspiration site was the Outer Banks Trading Group and I was inspired by this beach scene with the wonderful colorful umbrellas.
Here is my project.
I stamped the umbrellas and other images on watercolor paper, colored with reinkers and a brush, embossed with vera and clear embossing powder and then cut out. I created a simple ocean/beach scene for the background and popped up all the umbrellas and towels, etc to be the main focus of the project. I love the ocean and sitting out under an umbrella watching the surf and sky on a warm Cape Hatteras summer day.
My second project is a fun laundry day card and expressed my exact sentiment when it comes to doing laundry.
I created the outdoor tree and sky scene by sponging in the clouds and then stamped my mini fern stamp over both sides to create the edges of two trees. I cut a frame using Nestabilities and popped it up over the scene. I created the white drapes using a border punch and then crimped them. I stamped all the images, painted and then cut out to pop up over the clothes line and the base of the card. Laundry is not one of my favorite jobs although one that is necessary. I couldn’t resist using the "things to do" sentiment and using folded laundry on both sides.
I hope you have a good week and have time to get some stamping time in.

Both cards are absolutely over-the-top, but I can so relate to the ironing one Kittie, I love it! And that sentiment is hysterical!
Kittie, these are both cute as all get out — but the sentiment about taking the laundry to the dump is the best! 🙂
Like both cards but the beach scene card really captures the inspiration piece-pretty.
Both cards are so cute and colourful! I love the sentiment on the laundry design and while that is what I have been doing, I would rather be enjoying your gorgeous beach!
Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Hahaha!!! No, no I didn’t mean I was taking the laundry to the dump…although it might be a good plan….I meant I was folding and ironing! Maybe I do need some beach time…as soon as this snow goes away! 😀
Both of these are fabulous Kittie.
Great cards, Kittie!! The laundry day one is so cute… had never heard that sentiment, but LOVE IT!! LOL!
I absolutely LOVE both of your cards and they are some of the best cards I’ve seen in a long time. The beach scene is beautiful and perfect and the ironing scene is cute and funny. I love the ironing sentiment, although I honestly like doing laundry and ironing, as long as there is plenty to iron. I DO NOT like taking the iron out for just a couple of pieces.
Wow- love your colorful scenes- fabulous!!!
Beautiful cards! So colorful. I really like the beach scene card. Wishing I was somewhere warm!
great dimension on the umbrellas and like the whitecaps coming in. Neat window scene, that sentiment is how I feel about dusting that is the one thing I could live without having to do.
