I really enjoying creating dimensional scenes around images. The Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge on Tuesday was to use Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue and Baja Breeze. The two blues are not colors I would ordinarily mix together so I decided Baja would be used as an accent and Bashful Blue would be the main focus of the card.
I started the scene by sponging in clouds on the watercolor paper and then painting a tree on one side. I punched out several small leaves using a McGill punch and layered them over the branch to create the appearance of a shade tree . I stamped the chair image on watercolor paper, painted and cut it out. I mounted the frame over the scene and then attached the tree under the shade tree. I placed several more leaves and punched pine on both sides of the chair as well as adding tiny springs of pine to the flower pot sitting on the arm of the chair. I made several tiny flowers with my 3/8'” and 1/8”circle punches and attached them to the foliage. I added stickles to the flower centers for a little sparkle. Flowers were created by placing the tiny punch on a mouse pad and squishing it down in the center of the circle using a small stylus point. Check out my punched flower tutorial if you would like see more about punched flowers.
Here’s a closer look.
Have a great Wednesday. Where I work Wednesday is referred to as hump day. I guess it’s the start of rolling down into the weekend.
