Elegant Flowers and Butterflies

Good morning!   I want to thank you for your support and for making my card sale such a success.

I had a great time playing in the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge yesterday. The inspiration site was Everything Turquoise and I was inspired by the South Hampton bedding collection.

Although this bedding isn’t something I would choose for my home I loved the elegance and the soft pale aqua and taupe.  Here is what I came up with.

I made a card earlier this week that used the technique of brayering a light ink color onto the front face of an embossing folder.  I love how the soft color allows the embossed pattern to show. I created an additional embossed piece of cardstock to create the flowers and butterflies with. I wanted them to blend in with the background.

The frame was punched using a Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page set and the frame opening was die cut using a rectangle Nestabilities die. It was mounted on the card front using mounting tape. The foliage was die cut using a leafy flourish die. The flowers and foliage were attached to the frame to create a flower spray. KC MArtha Stewart Hydrangea Punch 5 left

The patterned butterflies were layered over a plain vanilla butterflies to create additional dimension. Tiny taupe pearls were added to the flower centers and butterflies for one additional touch of elegance. I really love how this card turned out. It would be perfect for so many different occasions.

Check out today’s Rubbernecker Blog design team  post if you are interested in taking part in a fun inspiration challenge.  The team has some fun inspired projects to share.  My challenge project is a simple scene with a sweet punched flower garden.

  2. This card is so elegant. I am learning so much from you and your blog. I am selfish because I miss it when you don’t post every day. However, I realize what it is like to have a job and the many demands that a home and job can make. I hope Toby is adjusting after having his little adventure last weekend. Thanks again for sharing your talent.

  3. That bedding would look wonderful in my master bedroom which is exactly those colours already although less elegant. Your pretty card reflects the colours and elegance perfectly. I did check out the other blog and love your embossed framing of your pretty lilac scene too! Hugs, Lesley
