Guest Designer Color Throwdown #190

image

Good Wednesday morning!  I have the privilege of being the guest designer for the Color Throwdown for the month of May. I was so excited to be invited and look forward to each of the challenges. This week the colors are actually some of my favorite.  I love green and turquoise together.  Back in the late 60’s and early 70’s when I was in college these were popular colors for dorm room decor.

I created a frame using the Memory Box Twirling Vine die, I used the die as a template to draw the outline of the frame on watercolor paper and cut it out to be layered under the frame.  I sponged clouds in the sky using a hand cut cloud template and sponged green on the ground area.  I stamped the bench image with the white cat by Art Impressions on watercolor paper, highlighted the bench with a Pumice Stone Distress Marker and washed lightly with a wet brush and cut out to pop up on the scene.  I stamped the cat portion of the image a second time and paper pieced it over the original.KC MEmory Box Twirling Vine Frame 1 center

I mounted the watercolor layer on the base of the card. I cut tiny thin strips of mounting tape, attached to the back of the frame and mounted it over the watercolor scene layer. I attached the bench to the scene layer and then punched lots of foliage using the Martha Stewart branch punch and created a garden around the base of the bench. I punched lots of 1/4”flowers and 1/8” circles and created tiny flowers for the garden by forming with my stylus and mat. I attached both the foliage and flowers using Glossy Accents.

I cut the Leafy Branch out of Kiwi Kiss and then colored the branches with Vintage Photo Distress Marker. I added branch in the top corner of the scene to create another element of interest and another bit of dimension. I love the kitty cat sleeping on the bench in the shade of the tree.  I would love to be sitting in that garden right now.

I hope you are having a great week.  Thanks for stopping by and I want to let you know how much I appreciate all of your wonder comments.

Be sure and hope on over to the Color Throwdown blog to see all of the other wonderful projects the team has created.
