Relaxing Beach Scene

Good Wednesday morning!  My project today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge to use Whisper White, Island Indigo and Pool Party.

When I saw the color combination I thought ocean and beach. This gave me the opportunity to use the Memory Box Oceana Border and Savvy Stamps Umbrella dies.  They paired well with the beach chair and birds from my Kittie Kits.

I created the cloud background using my hand cut cloud template and Inkssentials Ink Blending tool. I die cut the waves and hand cut the sand layer using deckle scissors and applied Liquid Applique to both to create sea foam and sand. I spread the LA lightly on the paper with my finger to avoid the dreaded blobs.  I sponged brown ink to the LA on the kraft paper to create the look of gritty sand. I attached the sand layer over the sky background and then applied the waves over the sand using mounting tape.

I die cut the umbrella three times, once with blue and twice with white. I cut the flaps off the blue umbrella and layered it over the white one. I cut decorative strips out of the other white umbrella to create a trim and topper for the umbrella.  I stamped the chair with white craft ink, embossed with white embossing powder and cut out using my craft knife. I attached the chair with mounting tape and attached the umbrella to the base  using both glue dots and glossy accents to secure in place. I would love to be sitting in that chair right now.

  1. Hi Kittie, a very relaxing card, with Texas heat the ocean looked tempting, and that beautiful chair an umbrella, comfort. Would like to see a tutorial on how to do that sand. You like to put your toes in this one. …..thanks for sharing and have a good day….hugs.
