Spooky Halloween Scene

Good Friday morning.  I have another fun Halloween project to share with you today. This time I have scary jack-o-lanterns, ghosts, spooky branches and flying bats made from the Impression Obsession Pumpkin, Halloween Set, Ghosts and Bare Branch.

I started by cutting the large pumpkin  three times.  I wanted to have three different shaped pumpkins so I trimmed two of them down with my snips following the scored lines.  I die cut the faces out, placed yellow cardstock in behind the openings and applied yellow stickles to create the look of sparkly fire and set them aside to dry.  I cut the ghosts, branches and bats for the scene and placed black cardstock in behind the face openings of the ghosts so they would show up better in the design. I created a double matted frame using my matting basics a and matting basics b sets and attached it to the card base with mounting tape.

I attached the pumpkins on the frame with mounting tape and attached the branches to the top of the frame with glossy accents.  I attached the three ghosts in the scene with mounting tape and added the bats to the branches with glossy accents for the finishing touch. I love the versatility of the bare branch.  It can be made so by adding leaves and flowers and so spooky in black for Halloween projects. I love how the bright orange, black and white images show up against the background patterned paper.

Review of Spellbinders Matting Basics A and Matting Basics B

I wanted to give you my review of the two Spellbinders matting sets.  I have the worst time getting my cardstock cut straight for my A2 cards even with my guillotine cutter.  I was thrilled to see these sets released and they have become my “go to” for everything from layering to creating my double matted frames. If you don’t have these I highly suggest you put them on your wish list. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Spellbinders will come out with square sets as well.

I am so glad you stopped by and I hope you have a wonderful day.

  1. Kittie, this is so cute…. again, I’m loving your work. I see the pumpkin dies and wonder, the face part, the dark part, is there a die that cuts the face out too? I’m off to get a new die or two….lol. Thank you for sharing your wonderful creativity

  2. Wonderful “angry” pumpkins and ghosts card! Love the die cuts and faces. The branch with bats and the ghost nestled in, looks so cool. Another amazing card. 🙂
