Up, Up And Away and Ribbon Blog Candy

Good Sunday morning.  Before I start with my project I wanted to offer you a chance to win ribbon blog candy.  For those of you that follow my blog you know how much I love to shop at Ellen Hutson.  With an order here and an order there I end up with lots of those wonderful “Thank You” gifts that Ellen packs into each order with a full yard of gorgeous May Arts satin ribbon.  All you have to do to be entered into my random drawing is leave me a comment and add a link to your favorite “go to” craft blog site.  There are so many wonderfully creative artists in the crafting community and it is impossible to know all of them. I will announce the winner on my Friday, September 20th blog post. You will have until 5:00 pm on Thursday the 19th to leave your comment.

Ellen Ribbon

My project today was made using the newly released Impression Obsession Santa die and Fir Trees set.  The Santa and reindeer are so cute and I couldn’t resist flying him over tree tops.  I used white cardstock to cut out the silhouette die cut and colored the images using my Copic markers as well as adding gold to the sleigh and reins with my versa marker and gold embossing powder.

I used the polka dot designer paper to create a snowy background and thought it would look sweet paired with the striped fir trees.  I cut a couple strips of white cardstock with my deckle scissors, crimped them with my wave crimper and attached them to the card base.

I tucked the trees in behind the ground snow and attached to the scene with mounting tape. I cut a patterned moon with a circle punch and attached it with mounting tape.  The Santa and reindeer were attached with mounting tape for added dimension.

  1. Of late, yours is my favorite craft blog site because I am just getting into what can be done with IO dies. I discovered them through you and I love your cards. My next fave blog is http://melstampz.blogspot.com because Mel is my “go-to” girl for templates. I love her lists of things to do with certain craft materials.
Thanks for a chance to win but I will be out of town when you are posting the winner.

  2. I think your card is adorable, Kittie. Love the die with Santa and his team! I have several blogs that I never miss checking everyday. Yours is one of the first I visit, as well as Kristina Werner’s blog and Jennifer McGuire’s blog at http://www.jennifermcguireink.com/. I love the way that Ellen always sends a little thank you with her packet of ribbon, and I’d love to have more – thanks for the chance to win.

  23. Hi Kittie: I have such problems commenting. I try to remember to copy what I write so I don’t have to repeat. But, just wanted you to know that my Santa die is on its way! Thank you so much for the inspiration. You know I’m a city gal and am an apartment dweller. High rises to be exact except the one I grew up in which was on the 4th floor. So, my Santa will fly over a cityscape. Can’t wait! Love, you!
