Bunny Snow Day

Good Tuesday morning.  I have another snowy scene to share with you today using the Impression Obsession Solid Tree stamp paired with the Bunny Set.  We always think of bunnies in the spring and especially around Easter.  I thought it would be fun to create a winter scene with the bunnies playing in the snow.

I started by masking the ground area and the sun in the sky and sponged in the sky area with blue ink using my ink blending tool.  I moved the ground mask around on the scene and sponged in a few snow bank lines.  You can see my winter moonlight snow scene tutorial if you would like to see step by step pictures of this masking process.  It works the same way for both night and day scenes.  It just depends on the shade of ink you use and how intense you make the sky.

I applied ink to the stamp, lightly misted and stamped it in the scene and repeated two more times.  I used a waterbrush to smooth out the color on the trees and added darker shades of brown by dipping in pure reinker and brushing on the trunk and lower limbs.

I cut the three bunnies out of white cardstock and used a mini applicator to lightly sponge on the light brown ink.  I then added darker brown to the the ears, back and paw areas. I sponged dark brown on scrap paper, cut out small pieces and attached to the back of the bunny behind the open eye area since the bunny eyes are little circle openings.  I hope that made sense.   I think they are so precious.

Here’s a closer view.  You can click on the pictures if you would like to see an even larger view.

I cut two pieces of cardstock with my deckle scissors, crimped and attached to the scene with mounting tape.  I applied mounting tape to the back of each bunny and tucked them into the scene for the final finishing touch.

  5. Wonderful card Kitty, I just love being able to use stamps year round, I knew when I got these bunny dies, that they would prove to be able to be used all the time, you did a fantastic job here coloring them. When I was little i had bunnies, white of course and a few other colors, and then one time my dad brought me home one, he was a runt of sorts, and this is the color he was, very light brown with dark highlights on the ears and paws and maksed face, he never did get very big, and he did not unfortunately live as long as all my other rabbits, but he was very cuddly and affectionate. GREAT card, and thanks for the memory!!!
    hugs

  6. Good Morning Kittie
Just having a quick lookie loo at your website this morning before heading in to volunteer at elementary school library and just had to send you a comment on this bunny card.
When I saw this card, it reminded me of the 4-5 wild rabbits that live on our street. Even though snow has fallen on the outskirts of Calgary and of course in the mountains, we have been lucky so far. However the rabbits’ coats are turning whiter and whiter with just their backs left brown. They are our reminder that snow and winter are on the way!
When I walk my Golden Retrievers they always look for the rabbits tucked away in their usual spots or else late at night we see them foraging or playing on the front lawns. Most of the rabbits “know” the girls and will just sit quietly as we walk by.
Your website is a “ritual” daily visit with my morning coffee and a huge inspiration.
    Thanks a bunch!
    Heather W.
