White on White with Pops of Color

Good Tuesday morning.  I have been having lots of fun this holiday season making mostly all white card with small pops of color. It intrigues me how just a few little pieces of color can make such a bold statement against a white background. My project was made using the Impression Obsession Birch Trees and Pine Sprig Cluster.

I cut the trees, sponged a little pumice stone ink around the notches with a mini applicator and mounted them to the card base with rolled up glue dots.  I cut two strips of cardstock with my deckle scissors, crimped with my wave crimper and attached them to the base of the card.

I cut a few sprigs of the pine and tucked them in behind the snow layers and attached with glossy accents. I cut the birds in the set in red, made a few markings on them with a black soot distress marker and popped them up in the scene with rolled up glue dots. My favorite bird is the one down on ground level.  I don’t know why.

Thanks for stopping by.  I really appreciate it and I hope you have a wonderful day.

  1. This card is gorgeous, love it!!!! This die is already on the top of my wish list, I love cardinals, they are my favourite Christmas/winter bird. There are so many creative possibilities with this die. I love birch trees and evergreens too. Thank you for sharing this visual beauty today.

I’m in awe of EVERY thing you do, and this is truly awesome as well. Your knowledge of art and color is evident in the things you do. I hope others appreciate the time spent as much as I do!!! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Kittie! 🙂

  6. Kittie, this is lovely as always. I have to get the courage to try a white on white card. I was looking at several yesterday on one of the challenge sites. They can be so pretty.
And I just have to share that your post had me laughing… not at you, mind you, but something you said reminded me of a line in an old sitcom, so I’m just sitting here laughing. I know, I’m crazy! LOL!! When you said, “I don’t know why.” it just took me back to a scene in the old Frasier TV series. I would explain, but I have a feeling it’s one of those situations where you have to have been there. LOL! But, I appreciate the laugh, none the less. Our country is in such a terrible situation these days I don’t seem to laugh very much anymore. I used to laugh and smile all the time (well, not in serious situations!) but unfortunately life and what is going on around us is just a lot more serious these days.

  7. Very nice card! I’ve been looking at different cards to make with cardinals. I’ve been looking for a stamp, a diecut, stickers, of cardinals. I just can’t seem to find much. Please tell me where you got your cardinal (punch) I’m assuming?

  8. Hi, I used the cardinals from the Birch Tree die set for my birds. If you scroll up to the bottom of my post you will see the set that I used, click on it and it will take you to see them. I sure hope this helps.
