Good Saturday morning. I don’t know when I have looked forward to a weekend more than I did this one. Whew! Work just gets in the way of all my creative plans. I keep telling my husband I need to retire on my 63rd birthday (in just few weeks) but he doesn’t see it as a possibility. LOL!
I had a big package full of new dies come in the mail this week. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on them. I had been contemplating whether I needed to spend the money on the new My Favorite Things Roughing It, Campy Tree Lines and Tall Grassy Edge but in the end I had to get them all. I love creating outdoor scenes so much and these sets are all perfect for creating masculine cards. Here’s what I came up with.
I started by applying brown ink to the Woodgrain Embossed Cardstock with an ink blending tool. I thought the wood background was perfect for a masculine camping scene. I attached it to the kraft card base with ATG adhesive.
I cut the tree lines three times and cut a couple of them apart so I could mix and match them top create my background layers. I crimped them along with several sections of the tall grasses to add dimension. I attached two of the layers of trees to the card base with ATG adhesive. I attached the one right behind and in front of the tent with mounting tape.
I cut the tent sections and assembled them by layering them with mounting tape for depth. I tucked it in behind the grass and attached with ATG adhesive. I cut the grill, brushed rust colored ink on it to age, attached the two pieces together and attached it in the scene with mounting tape. I cut the tiny fire logs and flames, attached them together and attached with glossy accents. I added yellow stickles to create the appearance of fire. I added Liquid Applique dots the to the two sticks to represent marshmallows and attached to the ground with glossy accents.
I had to add a fewtiny flowers and stems to add interest and bring additional color up into all the green. I attached the sun to the wood background with mounting tape and applied yellow stickles for sparkle. I added a few flying birds the same color as the tent for the finishing touch.
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a wonderful weekend celebrating Mother’s Day.
