Impression Obsession “Nautical Beach” Challenge

Good Thursday morning and welcome to the Impression Obsession design team  “Nautical and Beach” challenge. I really love the sentiment on my card today.  What a happy wish for someone who loves being at the beach and collection shells.  I thought it would be fun to create a sandy colored monochromatic card for this challenge that featured the Shell Set  and the Shell In Your Pocket  sentiment.  I couldn’t resist adding one of the larger Sea Birds to finish the scene.   KC Impression Obsession Shell Set 2 left

I started by sponging in the clouds on the card base using a hand cut template and ink blending tool. I stamped the sentiment on the card base with Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate and embossed with clear embossing powder. I applied Antique Linen ink with an ink blending tool to scrap vanilla cardstock, cut the sand dune sections using my deckle scissors and attached them to the card base with ATG adhesive. I created a double matted frame by attaching the two layers together with mounting tape and then attached it to the card base.  I really like the element of added dimension created by the separation between the frame layers.

I cut the shells and lightly applied brown ink with a mini applicator.  I applied a touch of glitter to the shells to add some sparkle and then attached them to the frame with mounting tape.  I added one large bird to the top of the frame to try and counter balance how heavy the bottom of the frame is with the shells. 1. Your card is so pretty! It should be put in a frame. I love the soft clouds in the background and the sand on the shells. The gull is the perfect touch!

You have made a very elegant, artistic card. It’s really a piece of Art.

  4. Good Morning, Kittie; I love this beach scene. I don’t ever remember seeing this particular color ink, and will be looking for it. The color of ink and the beautiful design layout are perfect together. The glitter on the shells gives you feeling of sand, and the bird the always present seagulls. Perfect sentiment as well. A gorgeous creation…..well done….have a good day…hugs.

  7. Oh Kittie this is simply amazing. I love all your creations but this one is really close to my heart. My daughters & I love the ocean & our favorite thing is getting up very early in the morning & searching for pretty shells & sand dollars. The sentiment on this just says it ALL !!! Those shells are SOOOO realistic & the colors on this are just wonderful. I still don’t get how you make those wonderful frames. I know I just need to practice but I can’t figure out how to make them with the magnetic platform. This should be framed & put in a special place cuz it is certainly a masterpiece.
    Hugs, Janie

  9. OMGosh!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your card!!! I keep coming back to it over and over, and seeing a ‘new’ detail each time!! I’m not sure if it’s the monochromatic scheme, the layers, the dimension, or what but WOWZERS! I find it to be striking, yet subtle, if that makes sense?! Think I just might need to subscribe to you! TFS!
