Good Thursday morning and welcome to the Impression Obsession Design Team “Clean and Simple” Challenge. Have you seen the new summer die release? Oh my goodness! There are so many fun dies to use for beach themed projects. For my challenge project today I chose to create a single layer card with a frame created using a mask and a soft beach scene that focused on three popped up birds from the Shore Birds set.
I created a frame mask using rectangle die and computer paper, applied removable mono adhesive to the back of the frame and attached it over the card base. I created a circular mask, applied the mono adhesive and put in place to create the sun. I used a Color Box stylus and foam tip to sponge in the sand. I attached a straight piece of paper spanning from side to side to create the mask for the water line and that blocked off the sky area and sponged in the blue water. Using the oval foam tip allowed me to keep the blue ink from overlapping the brown sand line. I used a handmade cloud template and an ink blending tool to sponge in the sky area. I applied light layers of Liquid Applique to create the sea foam, lightly spread it around with my finger to remove bubbles and heated.
I cut the birds and colored in their legs and the top portion of their bodies with distress markers. I sketched in the sea oats with a green marker. I applied a little darker brown ink around the base of the sea oats to add a more natural appearance. I applied touches of glossy accents to attach the bird feet and popped their bodies up in the scene with rolled glue dots.
Here’s a closer view of the birds. I really like how they fit so perfectly along the water’s edge.
Why don’t you come along and play with us. To enter the challenge go to the Impression Obsession Blog (all the details are there!). A random challenge card will be selected to showcase on the IO blog and you can to enter to win a $25 gift certificate to IO just by playing! This is gorgeous Kittie. I love the scene you created.
Great beach scene. Love how you colored the little birds, and again the water and sky looks fantastic. Great CAS card.
I Love this post very beautiful beach scenes. Thanks for sharing.. Fun and entertainment spot
Another wonderful beach scene, Kittie! Great sky, sand and foamy water. Thx for sharing that you used liquid applique for the “foam.” 🙂
It doesn’t look very SIMPLE to me Kittie but it does look fantastic. Love how you’ve created the foam where the water meets the sand. I was looking for that wonderful stamp you used for the sea grass then see that you just drew it in. Wonderful, natural look. I need a stamp tho I can’t draw like you …

Love what you are doing with the water. Thanks.
Good morning, Kittie, I missed yesterday, hope you see this. I love this sea scene. those birds are darling, and the caps on the waves, super. I got the feeling of an early morning, with cool breezes, and the birds walking around the beach getting ready for the day…… Hugs.
You are rockin’ those summer cards … they make me wish I was at the beach.
