Splitcoaststampers Dare To Get Dirty Day 5

Good Wednesday morning.  Have you been able to go over and join in the Dare To Get Dirty challenges at Splitcoaststampers?  We are having so much fun with all the different challenges.  I hope you will hop on over and check them out.

I love creating beach scenes and hit the jackpot this week when I received my Impression Obsession Summer Release dies . There are so many fun beach and summer fun dies and I see several more beach cards coming in my future posts..  My project today was made using the Beach Chairs, Beach Umbrella, Mini Beach Fun Set, Small Grass, Sailboats, Single Beach Chair (flip flops) and Small Bird set.

I cut the umbrella sections out in different colors, assembled them, applied versa and embossed them with clear embossing powder.  I did the same with the bucket, shovel, flip flops and sailboat.  I also cut several grass sections, chairs and small birds for the scene.

I sponged in the ocean waves and sky using my Color Box stylus  and foam tip and ink blending tool.  I applied liquid applique to the water area, smoothed it around with my finger to remove bubbles and heated to create the appearance of sea foam. I cut the frame, applied mounting tape to the back and attached it over the scene on the card base.

I hand cut two sections of sand area with deckle scissors, sponged it lightly with light brown ink and attached to the frame with mounting tape. I tucked the chairs and umbrellas in between the sand layers and attached them with mounting tape. I inserted the grass sprigs and attached with glossy accents. I finished by adding in the flip slops, bucket and sailboat and added a few birds flying in the sky.

  4. Kitty, this is so gorgeous. I just bought some of these IO beach dies yesterday, and already had some of the birds. I really like the dimension you have created with the birds’ wings. They truly look in flight. Great sand and water effects too. Thanks for the wonderful inspiration, and I’m off to see the step by step. Was just enjoying the flower tutorial over at Ellen Hutson’s Classroom. Again, such a pretty flower and you make it look so easy! Thank you.

  5. You always create a story with a 2-demensional media… Paper. Your craft is amazing. I can’t imagine the time investment you make.
