Christmas Angel

Good Sunday morning.  My project today was made using the Creative Expressions Christmas Angel.  I think this is such a gorgeous and elegant die.  It cuts beautifully and is very easy to pop up on a project since the upper body is solid.  I embellished the angel with small pieces of the Impression Obsession Fir Sprig set, Holly Flourish and berries made using a 1/8” circle punch.

I cut the frame sections, attached them together with 1/4” double stick tape, applied thin strips of mounting tape on the back and attached to the card base.

I arranged a few pieces of fir sprigs on the waist line of the angel and attached with glossy accents.  I cut a couple sections of leaves off the holly flourish, punched red berries with a circle punch and attached on top of the fir with glossy accents. I cut the candle holder in gold foil, attached tiny fir sprigs and red berries and attached to her hand with glossy accents. I couldn’t resist adding a tiny sprig and gold berries to the angel’s hair. I applied mounting tape on the body of the angel and attached her to the card base.

I rolled a piece of double stick tape, cut into a few small sections and applied them to a few places along the hemline of the gown to hold in place.  I learned this trick from Mitra Friant , owner of Impression Obsession when I worked with her at an event a couple of weeks ago.

I thought it would be easier to show you in a few pictures.  This is perfect for attaching tiny thin pieces of dies like tree branches and the delicate die I used today.

1

Attach a piece of double stick tape to your work table.  The first time I did this I tried to attach it to my non stick craft sheet.  Duh! Nothing sticks to that.

2

Remove the paper backing.

3

Roll the tape with your fingers from both sides at once.

4

You can use it as is or cut into smaller pieces as needed.

5

Attach it to the die.  I used a 1/4” tape for the photos but you can do this with any size.  I have gotten a really thin piece using the 1/8”.  I hope this tip helps you as much as it did me.

Thank you Mitra!

  3. Beautiful card, Kittie. Thank you so much for sharing this great tip. I’ve tried to roll glue dots, but they seem to stick to my fingers so much that by the time I attach them to the die, there is not glue left! I’ll try this next time I’m working with a delicate die – I’m sure this is going to work just fine. Once again, thank you for sharing this great tip and all of your beautiful creative work 🙂

  6. Good Afternoon, Kittie, a beautiful angel, looking up to the Lord, an giving a
a gift to Him. So pretty, with gold an red. and what a delicate dress she is wearing. I like your idea of flowers in her hair. Looking her very best. And that glitter card stock is perfect.
appreciate the info on the double tape, looks easier than the glue dots, but both are terrific for these efforts. …have a good day.
