Susan’s Rustic CountryScapes

Good Sunday morning.  Have you seen the new Susan's Garden CountryScapes release by Elizabeth Craft Designs?  Well….I guess I should have asked if you have seen Susan’s whole new release that includes not only the CountryScapes but also several wonderful flower die sets and sentiments. I am especially excited that the flower sets are smaller and perfectly sized for card fronts.  You will be seeing lots of flower projects in my future blog posts.

My project today was made using the CountryScapes Backyard 1, Country Fence 1, Country Flora 1, and the Planted In Faith sentiment.  The tiny butterflies are from the Memory Box Butterfly Delights.

All of the die cut pieces were cut using white cardstock and color was sponged on using mini applicators and distress inks. I assembled the flowers and pots with glossy accents.  I attached the tiny flowers to the taller stems on the flora grass piece with glossy accents.  I cut the frame, attached double stick tape on the back, attached the grass section and then attached the frame to the card base with mounting tape.

I had already stamped the sentiment on the card base and then realized I didn’t get it high enough to be seen behind the large fence section.  Duh!  That is my life story.  So instead of letting myself become frustrated I considered it a happy mistake and made the best of it.  I cut the left end of the fence off and a little bit off the fence post to shorten it and attached to the card base with rolled up pieces of double stick tape.  I decided to the use the piece of fence that I cut off on the other side of the card to create the appearance of an opening to walk through.

I ended up cutting off sections of the flora grass that I had attached the tiny flowers to so I could create some floral height above the fence line.  This helped offset the sentiment and draws the eye up and fills in the blank white space.  The taller flowers also help offset the heavier flowers along the grass line. I tucked the flower pots and watering can in place and attached with mounting tape.  I added the butterflies for the finishing touch and to soften the scene.  I never met flower or scene dies that I didn’t love.

  6. Don’t you love it when you make a mistake and are able to salvage the card. I know it happens to me quite a lot. Some can be saved and some not.
