Leafy Framed Peony

Good Sunday morning.  I’ve had a crazy busy work week and am having such a good time at home this weekend.  It’s always so nice wake up knowing I can relax and not have to rush off to work.  My internal clock doesn’t know the different between work days and weekends so I still wake up before the crack of dawn each day.  LOL!  I am definitely a morning person.

My project today was made using my new Impression Obsession Peony Set 2 stamp set designed by Dina Kowal and paired it with my new Poppystamps Leafy Frame.  I was intrigued by the multi step stamping and what a beautiful flower and foliage it produced. I hopped over to Dina’s blog and found her step by step tutorial on how best to use these stamps. For all of you crafters out there who have a MISTI stamp positioner you’ll find the multi step stamping a breeze.  I don’t do enough stamping projects to justify purchasing a MISTI so I used my Stamp-a-ma-Jig and it worked just fine.

I used Barn Door, Festive Berry, Fired Brick, Aged Mahogany Distress Inks and Black Versafine ink for the different petal layers. I used the Stamp-a-ma-Jig to position all of the different layers so they would be placed as precisely as possible. I lightly misted the stamps each time allow for a good covering of ink.  I used plain white cardstock.

I cut a mask of the base flower stamp on a piece of Post-It Removable Labeling Tape, cut it out and masked the finished flower so I could stamp the foliage leaves.  I used Crushed Olive, Peeled Paint and Forest Moss Distress Inks for the leaves.  I didn’t use the Stamp-a-ma-Jig for the leaf layers because they were much easier to position by eyeballing it through the acrylic block.  I attached the frame layer to the card base with strips of mounting tape. I cut out the completed flower and leaves so I could pop it up inside the frame opening.

Although this stamped flower is all one layer of cardstock it appears to be so full of dimension with the different layers of color.  I did form the flower and foliage a little with my stylus and molding pad for added dimension and love how it turned out.

Thanks for coming by today and I hope you have a wonderful Sunday.

  5. What an amazing flower and I love how you have chosen to frame it. Perhaps that stamp was intended solely for ‘Larks’ and as I am definitely a ‘night owl’ it probably wouldn’t work for me! Anyway, that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it for now!! Your work IS ALWAYS INSPIRATIONAL Kittie it’s just that some of us may know that we are not as gifted as you. However, many thanks for that inspiration.
