Countryside Snow Scene and Blog Candy

Good Sunday morning.  My project today is a country village snow scene made using the Memory Box Countryside Circle paired with the My Favorite Things Mini Scallop Square Stax and a tiny star from the Impression Obsession Sun and Moon set.   I love using the white and pale blue color combination for snowy holiday cards.  There is something so peaceful about the combination and using a bit of sparkles adds special touch.

KC Memory Box Countryside Circle 1 right

The Countryside Circle is a small die and I felt being placed on a large card would overwhelm and distract.  I decided that 4.50” square would be the perfect size.  I cut the scene die out once in full and cut the tree and house section out two more times.  I thought the little house a three trees looked a little lonely so I cut the extra houses and trees apart and attached them to the back of the circle frame.  I applied a thin line of Cosmic Glitter Glue along the ground level of the scene and covered the trees and then applied glitter to add a little sparkle.  I attached the scene layer to the blue scalloped layer using mounting tape and then attached the blue layer to the card base with mounting tape. I applied falling snow to the sky using a Uni-bal white gel pen.  I added a tiny sparkly star in the sky to finish.  So sad that the sparkle doesn’t really show well in the photos.

Blog Candy

I have the Elizabeth Craft Designs Outdoor Edges die set that I just “had to have” but  never used.  LOL! I thought it would be the perfect set to offer as blog candy to add to someone’s scenery die stash.  Leave a comment on this post by 5:00 pm Friday, Oct 7th telling me what your favorite holiday color combination is.  Red, white and green is my absolute favorite but this blue and white combo is certainly running a close second.  I’ll announce the randomly chosen winner on my Saturday morning post.

  4. Such a pretty card.
One of my favorite colors; Navy Blue, Silver and white. Or Purple and Gold and for a different twist of things; I also like the Turquoise and Orange together. (the right shades of course)
I’m trying to stay away from the traditional red, green and white. Year after year seeing the same colors gets boring.
Thanks Kittie for this giveaway opportunity

  5. What a beautiful card! As much as I love red and green for Christmas in subdued hues, I love blue, white, and silver the best. I like to add silver because it looks so great with glitter accents, Wink of Stella shimmer, and Twinkling H20’s. I might just have to CASE this card, Kittie, because I think a silver frame would look great too. TFS! You are an inspiration as always!

  14. You have given me so much inspiration with your cards, as it is easier for me to use dies and not a lot of stamping. I love this take on a winter morning where there is snow, which we don’t see here in Florida.
My favorite for holiday cards is dark greens and gold but I truly love all color combos. Thanks for sharing and the chance to win some much needed candy! Stunning layout yet a simple design.

My fav colors for Christmas would have to be red and green, but I am so into blues right now. I have a big 3D project planned and I’m buying soft, frosty blues and will use white….there will be a white Christmas tree in the project, too, with blue decorations. I’m having a little trouble finding the blues I want to use, however. May need an alternative color scheme just in case.

  23. BEAUTIFUL card Kittie!!!! You may find this hard to believe, but a card I created, a layered poinsettia, using black yardstick with gold embossing and all fussy cut and layered is my absolute favorite…elegant and a stunner – it was for a ‘using non-traditional colors for a Christmas card – and it won! Another favorite is burgundy and gold.

Now for the greedy part of my comment. My favorite color combination is White, turquoise (or aqua) and red.

  36. Good Afternoon, Kittie, Your card is gorgeous with soft blue and white. I can go with either the blue, white, and sliver, and the traditional red, green, and gold. Depends on the scene creation I am working on; which would be my choice.
however; when decorating the tree and putting things out for Christmas they are all red, green, white, and gold. my favorite; tradition. thanks for the opportunity of blog candy, always a special gift to the winner….have a good week-end.

  41. Delightful card, Kittie! Love these dies and the ones you used yesterday too. I seem to have a few favourite colour combinations, including the traditional red, white and green, but I recently seem to be making a lot of white-on-white cards. I love the sort of dreamlike quality that I can achieve with the white-on-white and a little glitter.

My favorite Christmas colors for this year are going to be gold with lots of bling! Does that count for more than one color?
Thanks for sharing another beautiful card!

  48. Blue and white really are gorgeous for wintry scenes, the deer and tree scene from the other day were gorgeous too. However, I have to go with the traditional Christmas colors of Red, Green & Gold as being my favorite. I can’t help it, it’s just so ingrained in my soul and I have a very hard time making cards in non-traditional colors.
I’m still loving getting my emails with all your lovely inspiration. Thank you Kitty!

  56. I can never choose just one favorite color or color combo because all colors are so beautiful. But, for Christmas I do love the traditional red and/or green with white. But, I also love deep blue with silver. And although I usually go for silver rather than gold when it comes to metallics, last year I made some cards that used gold shimmery cardstock with gold sparkle embossing powder and gold ribbon that really turned out so pretty. So, it really all depends on the style of the card and the elements used as to what colors look the best.
