Good Thursday morning and welcome to the Impression Obsession “Thanksgiving Wishes” Challenge. My project today was made using the new Patchwork Leaves, Give Thanks and All-in-One Frames Rectangles 2. I have made several fall leaf cards this fall but this is the first time I have played with this new set. I decided to try my hand at water coloring them with Distress reinkers. They are far prettier in person than in the photos.
I used cold pressed watercolor paper to cut the leaves and sentiment. I started by wetting the surface of each leaf using water and a large brush and then followed with a light coat of Wild Honey reinker mixed with water. Next I dipped the tip of the brush in pure reinker and lightly touched the surface of the wet leaf in a few spots and allowed the darker ink to spread out but not cover the whole leaf. Next I dipped the tip of my brush in Fired Brick reinker and touched the leaf in a few areas and blended the ink in with the darker orange to create a variegated appearance. I finished each leaf by adding a couple tiny dots of Black Soot to the stem area and close to the center vein and lightly washed them with water so the spots wouldn’t be too dark. Hint: I use the lid of my Distress Ink pads as a palette for my reinker. Whatever is left over with be there the next time I use it and there is no waste. I watercolored the sentiment using the same reinkers as the leaves.
I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and sentiment and attached them to the card base. I arranged and attached the leaves to the frame and card base using glossy accents. When I was finished I decided to add clear Wink of Stella to the sentiment and leaves to add a touch of sparkle.
