Button Snowman and Christmas Sale Alert

Good Tuesday morning. Before I start my project I want to make sure you are aware of the Make It Merry 30% off Christmas Category Sale at Ellen Hutson.

I haven’t used buttons on my projects for a very long time but I have been intrigued for a while by the 28 Lilac Lane Embellishment Kits and Embellishment Bottles with matching buttons, sequins, pearls and seed beads and had to try a couple.   My first thought when opening the Winter Wonderland Bottle was a snowman scene.  Here’s what I came up with.

I started by picking buttons with only two holes and attached little pieces of black cardstock on the back with so the holes would look like eyes and coal buttons.  Since the snowman is so little I created the scene on a small piece of kraft cardstock and layered it with the white and gingham layers.  I hand cut a little piece of ground snow with my deckle scissors and attached to the bottom of the scene. Next I attached the two fir trees with glossy accents.  The white scalloped layer was attached to the gingham card base with mounting tape.  The scene was attached to the red piece and was attached to the white layer with mounting tape.

I heated up my hot glue gun and used it to attach the two buttons to the scene.  I could have used glue dots but I wanted the buttons to be really secure.  I hand cut the tiny hat and scarf using Taylored Expressions red and white felt and attached them to the snowman with tiny dots of hot glue.  I finished by attaching sparkly sequins all around the snowman for the look of falling snow.  I know….the snowflakes are almost the size of the snowman.  LOL!
