Happy hoppin’!

My projects today were made using the Oh Deer Stamps and Oh Deer Die Set and the Otter Ware Stamps and Otter Ware Die Set.

Julie’s deer images in the Oh Deer sets are so precious and I thought they would be perfect paired with the heart wreath and flower images from the Otter Ware sets.  I placed hot pressed watercolor paper in my MISTI and stamped the deer with gathered twigs ink and then used my waterbrush to pull some of the brown out to the body of the deer. I heat dried the image and then stamped the deer again to reinforce the body lines.  I love my MISTI!!  After they dried I used a mini applicator to add just a little more brown on their backs and ears.  I cut the deer out using the dies and then trimmed a little of the edges off with my scissors. I used my MISTI to line up my wreath stamp and used crushed olive ink to stamp the image. I once again used my waterbrush to pull the green out to fill in the wreath, allowed to dry and then stamped again to darken the wreath foliage image.

I carried the heart theme to the card base using Lawn Fawn Let’s Polka In The Meadow.  I think the tiny heart pattern is so sweet. I had lots of color choices in the paper pack but really loved the green to represent a forest background for the deer.  I attached a double matted frame to the card base using mounting tape.  I attached both the deer to the card base with mounting tape.  I layered the heart wreath over an all white wreath to make it stand out a bit more in front of the green background  then secured it in place with  mounting tape.  I was going to leave the wreath plain but decided to add the three tiny red flowers to add a touch of color.  I carried the red over to the tag for the finish.

I really love Julie’s wreath image and couldn’t resist creating a clean and simple project that made it the main focal point.  I repeated the same steps as above to stamp and color the wreath using my MISTI, markers and waterbrush. I stamped a few extra pieces of foliage, colored and cut them out.  I trimmed the foliage pieces off a little and arranged them on the wreath and attached with glossy accents.  I cut three red flowers, formed them with my stylus and molding pad and attached then to the wreath with glossy accents.  I applied clear Wink of Stella to the flowers to add some sparkle and then set the tiny pearls in the center.

I cut and assembled the square frames to create a triple matted frame and attached to the card base using mounting tape.  I applied thin strips of mounting tape all the way around the back of the wreath and attached it to the card base.

  7. Beautiful color combinations. I enjoy the simple elegance of your layout. The “Oh Deer” and the entire Otter Collection are some of my favorites of the new release. Cute punny humor. Thanks for using the kelp wreath in two ways, especially the repurposing it as a vine wreath. Looking forward to seeing other uses with the wreath because I fell in love with it.

  8. Oh, Kittie!!! Your shading on the deer? Impeccable! And, I love that you used the wreath from Otter Ware to highlight them! I reread your quick tutorial/tips on how you used the MISTI for both of these–fab technique I can’t wait to try myself!!!

  9. Oh, WOW!!! You have taken some simply lovely stamps and taken them way beyond the next level. I hadn’t really noticed the little wreath too much, and just look what you did with it! Sometimes the simplest designs (not easy, but simple!) really have the most impact. Thank you.

  13. Both cards are lovely. I really like the idea of using multiple frames. It’s a subtle and elegant way of highlighting your main element. The wreath framing the deer takes that card over the top. Well done!
