My project today was made using the Palm Trees and Hammock, Sea Birds, Small Grass and the flip flops from the Single Beach Chair set.  I love making beach cards and this is a framed die cut scene complete with sand, palm trees and I used hot pressed watercolor paper to cut the scene so I could watercolor with Distress reinkers.  I began by lightly applying water to the sand area and then applying a mixture of reinker mixed with water. I repeated the process to color both palm trees and sprigs of grass.  I heat set all the images with my heat gun and set aside while I worked on the background layer.  I used a mini applicator to sponge grey ink to the wings of the birds and assembled the flip flops with glossy accents.hammock.

I cut a piece of white cardstock to fit behind the framed die cut scene.  I applied a piece of Eclipse tape across the middle of the cardstock to mask off the sky area and to create the ocean water line.  I applied blue ink to the bottom half with an ink blending tool to create the ocean and then removed the tape and applied a lighter shade of blue to the sky area. I heat dried the ink and then reapplied the masking tape.  I applied a thin layer of Cosmic glitter glue to the water area with my finger and then applied Clear Rock Candy glitter.  I wanted the water to look sparkly behind the scene.

The two frames were attached together with ATG adhesive.  Next I applied thin strips of mounting tape around the border and small pieces behind the top portion of the palm trees and attached the die cut scene.  I applied ATG adhesive to the back of the scene layer and attached the blue scene background.  Once the whole frame and scene were assembled I applied another layer of mounting tape to the back and attached it to the card base.  I finished the scene by attaching the grass sprigs and flip flops with glossy accents and the birds with small pieces of mounting tape.

  8. This card reminds me of the Carribean vacation my husband and I took a few years back. We spent a day on a private island resting in hammocks and snorkeling. Thanks for the memory and for a beautiful card.
