Sea Turtle

Good Tuesday morning.  My project today was made using the new Impression Obsession Sea Turtle paired with Small Grass and Rectangle 6-in-1 Frames.  I created the blue and green background using a new technique I learned from the Splitcoaststampers Technique Lovers Challenge on Monday.

First I created the background using Broken China and Peeled Paint Distress Inks, a craft sheet, a mini mister and an old credit card.  I started by applying Broken China ink directly to the craft sheet with the ink pad.  I misted the ink with my mini mister and then dipped just the edge of the credit card into the watery ink and swiped it across the cardstock to apply ink and repeated the step until I was pleased with the amount of coverage I had.  I cleaned the craft sheet and repeated the same steps using Peeled Paint.  I wasn’t sure I liked the background at first but then thought it was the perfect watery background for the turtle.  I attached it to the card base using strips of mounting tape.

I cut the turtle, applied Crafter’s Pick glue to the back of it and attached it to the darker cardstock.  The good thing about Crafter’s Pick is that it is clear when it dries.  I used my snips to cut around the border of the turtle to remove the excess darker cardstock.  I applied double stick tape to the back of the frame along the bottom and attached the grass pieces.  I applied Cosmic glitter glue to the grass and then sprinkled with clear glitter.  I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attached it to the card base.

I added shimmer to the turtle and watery background using a Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen. You can see it a little better in the close up photo.
