Peace Frame, Survey Question and Blog Candy

Good Saturday morning.  Before I start my project description I would like to ask your opinion on something.  Would you prefer having step by step instructions listed like you see them for my project today? Does you think it makes it easier to follow the steps rather than being in paragraph form like I normally do?  I would really appreciate your opinion. Leave a comment on this post with your response by this coming Monday at 5:00 pm to be considered for my random blog candy drawing.  I'll announce the winner on my Tuesday  blog post.  See blog candy gift below.

My project today was made using the newly released Impression Obsession Peace Frame and Snowfall paired with the All-in-One Frames-Squares 2 and Hill Landscape Layers.   The new Peace Frame set  and Snowfall die work perfectly together to make a beautiful clean and simple project.  This project was fast and easy and can be easily mass produced for holiday cards.  The Peace Frame is a freestanding die and does not require an additional frame.  I just happen to like having the white outer frame to create more contrast against the green background.

1. Apply adhesive to the back of the Scalloped Frame, line it up over top of the Peace Frame and attach.

2. Line up the two Landscape Pieces the way you would like them to show in the scene and trim them down to 3.25” wide.

3. Apply adhesive around the bottom and lower sides on the back of the frame and attach the front Landscape Piece.

4. Apply thin strips of mounting tape all the way around the back of the frame.

5. Attach the back Landscape Piece in place on the bottom of the frame.

6. Apply adhesive to the back edges of the Landscape piece and attach the Snowfall Layer to the mounting tape and Landscape Piece on the back of the frame.

7. Apply adhesive to the back of the Snowfall Layer and attach to the whole frame to the card base.

8. Apply small pieces of mounting tape to the back of the trees and tuck in behind the Landscape Layers and attach.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my survey question. I’ll look forward to seeing what you have to say.  Just so you know I am also gearing up to use my iPhone 7 to do videos but I have a little more learning to do  and some speech therapy to work on before I post one.  LOL!  I appreciate you coming by and I hope you have a great day!

  1. I always find numbered steps easier to follow but despite spending time in IT I tend to print things out to follow them too – my PC locks up too quickly!!!

  2. I love the step system. I don’t have to search each time for my place in the order of things – it’s all numbered out clearly. Love this card – really beautiful.

  5. What a sweet and homey looking card! Cannot wait to CASE it.
Your directions are always clear and concise. Somehow, listing them numerically adds to that clarity…..and who doesn’t like to check off a list, then “Done”?
(And here I was groaning about 4 days without power! God bless ‘ya, Kittie!)

Your card is so pretty! I love the relaxing scene and agree about the white frame against the green being the way to go! TFS!

  11. Hi Kittie! I like the Step-by-Step format, because one can keep track of where you are in the process easier! I ALSO LOVE LOTS OF PICTURES of the process! As I am a visual learner! 😉
Your card today looks GREAT! I too like that outer white scalloped frame to make your scene pop! AND this IS A LOVELY SCENE! 😉

  12. Lovely card, Kittie! While the numbered directions are very nice, I have always enjoyed your tutorials in the past, because you had pictures through the whole process. Here there is only a picture of the finished card. Maybe it’s because this particular card is very straight forward. So, if you include pictured between the numbered instructions when that is necessary to show the process, that would be just as good as all of your previous tutorials which are so wonderful.

  19. Good Morning, Kittie, First off, I was so happy to hear you weren’t damaged with that terrible Irma. so happy all is well.
I am a visual learner so pictures and steps are important to me. When you do a project for the classroom, you have visual pictures, of the steps. that way I read and see. I can also print. Steps are important. and your visual work along with them is magnificent for this visual learner. Thank you for asking,
    have a good day.

I really liked the step by step instructions like in today’s post. And I always love how you post the picture of the items you used with the link to where I can buy them. Always helpful.
And now, what a sweet card. It was the tree’s that really caught my attention… They look like happy tree’s living in the forest…. Guess what, more for me to buy…lol.
Thank you for sharing your creativity and for the possibility of getting some blog candy…

That helps so much! You are such a talent and your viewers/readers are so lucky that you are so generous to share the beauty with us.

  24. I really find it easier with this posting of steps. Much easier to follow rather than the pain staking process of photos AND written instructions. Videos are great and more effective with 5-7 minutes of instruction.

  27. Kitty, I have always appreciated your format with a pic of each step following its explanatory paragraph, and I’ve never had a problem following the procedure. Bless you for all the wonderful techniques you’ve shown us! Contrary to most of the replies you’ve received, you HAVE been doing your instructions step-by-step, but you’ve also included a bonus of a pic of EACH step. My suggestion is to keep the format you’ve been using but with a few modifications: 1) number each paragraph, 2) title each paragraph with a brief description of its step as you did today in the numbered listing, 3) then follow that with your usual explanations and insights, and 4) continue posting the corresponding pic underneath. That way, you have the best of both worlds with numbered steps and your elaborations, followed by a pic of that step right below as you’ve been doing all along.

I always find your photos and description very clear. They are easy to understand and follow along. Your photos are so well done and they make it easy to see the details.
Since you are kind enough to share your process and details I say do it which ever way is the most comfortable and easy for you. I will follow along no matter which!
Thank you so much for being such a generous and kind paper and card artist. (What I do I call crafting. What you do with paper and ink, I call art!) 🙂

  35. Like another person said, I hadn’t considered that step-by-step might be easier–but it really is! I can get a little lost in the paragraph form, especially if it is a lengthy description. So, if it works for you I vote for step-by-step. So kind of you to ask your “pupils” for their opinion!

  36. You are absolutely awesome to ask us our opinion on your teaching methods. I have learned so much from you over the years that I appreciate any method you choose to share your creativity. The new step by step method is very helpful … I must admit. Your photos also play a huge part in my being able to get what you are trying to describe. I am also looking forward to your videos. You are the best! Thank you, Kittie.
On another note … As a fellow Flotidian, I am glad to hear that you survived Irma. I must admit it got scarey there for a couple of hours. I am thankful that our electricity was restored in just over a day, and we were then able to help out some others who were not quite as lucky.
Thanks again for all you do!

  39. The step by step instructions are easier to read & follow along due to the spacing in between & the numbering. In paragraph form, once you look away, you lose your place & read over the same info again trying to find your place again. Steps & numbers, definitely. Beautiful card!

  40. Beautiful card as always. I missed your explanations and pics in today’s instructions and it seemed less personal. Maybe number the paragraphs to make it easy to follow along. Thanks for asking but truthfully any way that’s easiest for you, I appreciate you sharing your wonderful cards with us.

  48. Once again, a lovely card. I really do like the step-by-step listing of instructions. It is so much easier to keep things in order rather than having to find your way in a paragraph. Do keep the intro paragraph, though, where you have your thoughts and where inspiration came from. It is always interesting to know background. It is nice to know how an artist’s thought process works.

  49. step by step……is so much better. With a paragraph, one loses their place. Also the line between is a good thing.
The step by step make the project seem doable.

  50. Good morning. I personally prefer the step by step because I’ve got concentration issues and if I get confused on a certain “step” I can circle where I left off and take a break then come back without losing my place and start again. I think step by step makes it a much clearer process.
Hope this helps others when they give us tutorials, too.

  54. Since I am a structured-type person, especially in crafting, I much prefer the step-by-step instructions. It works so well for me as that is exactly how I craft! Lol. Otherwise I need to dissect all the “fluff” out of the paragraph style.
I also prefer non-live videos, in case you ever think you might go in that direction. ??
Thank you so much for sharing all your wonderful projects with us! I do so enjoy them.

  55. Good Afternoon Kittie! I do love your paragraph method! I have been following your blog for a bit now and I really love hearing your sense of humor and your thoughts as you tell us how you’ve put your card together. I feel like I’m spending time with you as you teach me. It seems so much more personal to me. If I do print out your project, I just simply pencil the steps 1 – 10. I’ve never gotten lost 🙂 And I do walk away periodically. I would miss your paragraph style terribly if you change it, and I know including a step-by-step would mean extra work for you…. however. I love your work and have based my style of card making on yours so anyway I get it, I feel blessed!
