Ellen Hutson LLC 11th Anniversary Blog Hop

anniversary-2016-ig-anniv2016

Good Friday morning and welcome to the 5th day of the Ellen Hutson 11th Anniversary Blog Hop.  You should have arrived here from LauraJane Head’s wonderful post.  You will definitely want to go to The CLASSroom to learn all the details about the wonderful prize opportunities.

I have been a happy and faithful customer of Ellen’s since she opened her online store.  I made Bob’s Christmas shopping very easy each year as my wish lists were always filled with new “must have” products in the store.  You can imagine how thrilled I was several years ago when Ellen invited me to be a member of The CLASSroom design team.

For this special anniversary hop the designers were asked to create a project using our favorite Essentials by Ellen products. {{{{{WHAT???}}}}} How do I choose?  After much thought I finally decided to use Fat Pants and Hinged Alphabet.  I have always loved making snowmen and snowy scene holiday cards. I simply adore the fun snowman elements in the Fat Pants sets.  To me there is nothing cuter than using a black top hat, scarf and holiday holly leaves and sparkly berries to dress the snowman up.

I started by cutting out the snowman elements.  I stamped the face and body buttons using black versafine ink.  I applied Nuvo Crystal Drops to a craft sheet, allowed them to dry well and then picked them up with the tip of my paper piercer and attached them to the eyes, mouth and buttons using glossy accents.  You can see my sheet below with several Nuvo Drop colors I made for a few future projects.   I am too big a chicken to try applying the crystal drops directly on my project because I know I will somehow mess it up and have to start over.  LOL!

I attached the body parts of the snowman together with large glue dots and attached the hat with mounting tape.  I decorated the hat and scarf using ribbon, holly leaves and berries attached with glue dots and glossy accents.  I added sparkle to the berries using red stickles. I applied brown ink to the branch arms and attached them to the back of the snowman body with glossy accents.

I cut the red scalloped layer, set the hinged letter dies in place and secured them with pieces of Eclipse masking tape and ran through my Big Shot to cut.  I cut a piece of blue cardstock and applied white falling snow using a white gel pen.  I hand cut a snow layer using my deckle scissors.

I began assembling the scene by attaching the blue snowy layer to the card base using ATG adhesive. Next I attached the snow layer to the blue using ATG adhesive. I applied thin strips of mounting tape the red scalloped “Snow” layer and attached it to the card base.  I tucked the snow man in behind the snow layer and attached with mounting tape.

For sure I never get to see snow or snowmen here in Florida so I always have to create my own on card fronts.  I love this fun snowman with his big happy smile and fancy decorated hat and scarf.  He is certainly ready for the holidays.

I sure hope you enjoy seeing all the wonderful projects along today’s hop path.  Be sure to check out each day’s hop this past week and leave comments to qualify for prizes.  You can also take part in the 11th Anniversary challenge for a chance to win more prizes.  All you have to do is upload a project using your favorite Essentials by Ellen product.

Thanks for coming by today and thank you to all of you who sent well wishes regarding my eye surgery.  All went well and I am recovering nicely. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you enjoy your whole holiday weekend.

  7. Lovely card idea. Love the popped letters. Id be interested how you store your dots. Mine always seem to stick to each other and I ultimately throw them away.

  9. Super adorable card!! I know exactly what you mean about the Nuvo drops…I see all kinds of card makers on videos just whip them right onto their card with no problem! I would just be crushed if I made a fantastic card & ruined it in the end because I didn’t get my drops on good LOL!!

  10. What a wonderful winter card. The hinged letters add so much dimmension to the card, as does the red and white scarf on the snowman. So fun!

  14. As always, your work is just so amazingly meticulous! (& how you did all that detail while recovering from eye surgery!!!) Wowzers! I’ve got to make some snowmen for cards, and am totally stealing your idea of using the holly leaves for accents. Thanks for sharing your gorgeous card!

  17. Love the card. It is so cute. I love how you did the Nuvo drops. I always fear the “Nuvo Farts” when doing directly on the card, so I will now use your great idea of doing it on acetate and then putting them on. 🙂
