I love using die cut scallops and flowers together on my card fronts. I will never forget how excited I was when EK Success first came out with their large shaped punches. Spellbinders came on the scene with Nestabilities and after that it was anybody and everybody’s game. I happen to love scalloped dies in all shapes and especially love this beautiful circle die with the deep scalloped border and holes by Rubbernecker. I thought it would be so pretty used as a double decorative border for my floral spray. My project today was made using the 5119D Nested Circle Scallop w/ Holes, 5109D Mixable Flower Stack and 5118D Leaf Group Die. The designer paper I used is by Papertrey but I believe it is retired as I couldn’t find it to link.
The Scallop Layers
I cut two scalloped circles in white, measured and cut them so they would fit evenly on the card front and attached with ATG adhesive. I waned them to fit together like closed envelope flaps to create the pretty background for my flowers.
The Floral Spray
I cut one full group of flowers and then several individual flowers of one size. I cut one large green flower to use as a background for the full flower. I formed the flowers using my stylus and molding pad and then attached the group of flowers together using glossy accents. I attached the foliage pieces and large flower to the card base using glossy accents. I attached the smaller flowers to the foliage using glossy accents to fill in the spray. I finished by attaching the tiny white pre made Nuvo Crystal Drops to the flower centers using glossy accents. I thought the design looked incomplete so I added a couple ribbon tails for another touch of texture and dimension.
I love how pretty the white scalloped layers looks against the pink pattern paper. Do you have any scallop dies or punches? I hope you will get them out and create your own scallops and flowers project.
