I had so much fun making this Take Me to the Ocean die cut scene using a monochromatic color palette. The dies are all made by Impression Obsession. I used the new Take Me to the Ocean sentiment paired with the Beach Fence, Sea Birds, Mini Shell Set, Small Grass Border and the flip flops from the Single Beach Chair.
The Scene
I created the water and sky background on a white card base using an ink blending tool to apply Antique Linen I applied a darker shade to the water area and then used a cloud stencil to sponge in the clouds. I dabbed white embossing paste to the water area with my finger and then sprinkled it with clear glitter before it had a chance to dry. I hand cut two sections of sand using my deckle scissors, applied Antique Linen ink and then stamped a little texture on both sections using a retired Stampin’ Up! image from the Itty Bitty Background set. The sand sections were attached to the scene layer using strips of mounting tape.
Coloring the Images
All the images were cut using white cardstock. I applied Antique Linen ink to the images using a mini applicator and then added some depth of color by lightly applying Vintage Photo ink. I wanted the fence and sentiment to stand out more against the tan background so I used darker shades of Vintage photo ink.
Assembling the Take Me to the Ocean Die Cut Scene
The fence sections were gently bent it with my fingers and then attached in place behind the sand dune using glossy accents. I tucked a few sprigs of grass in front of each fence section and attached using glossy accents. The shells and flip flops were attached in place using rolled up glue dots. I applied Cosmic Glitter Glue to the edges of the shells and then sprinkled with clear glitter. I wanted to add another element of sparkle and interest to the scene since it is all one color. I finished by attached the single gull in place with a piece of mounting tape. There is something so soothing to me about this ocean scenic card.
I hope you have enjoyed my Take Me to the Ocean die cut scene using monochromatic colors and have inspired you to make one of your own. Thanks for coming by and I hope you have a great day.
