Good Tuesday morning. I have a die cut deer family scene card to share with you today using dies by Rubbernecker Stamps. The frame was made using the Nested Rectangle Scallop and Nested Rectangle. I used the Deer Family, Tree in Oval, Greenery and Small Birds to create the scene.
The Frame
- Cut the red scalloped rectangle using red cardstock.
- Place the scalloped layer on the cutting platform, line up the rectangle die to cut the frame opening and run it through the machine.
- Apply double stick tape to the back of the frame.
- Hand cut a snow layer using deckle scissors and attach it to the lower back portion of the frame.
- Cut three trees using green cardstock and set two aside. Trim the frame away from the trees,
- Attach one of the trees to the back of the frame.
- Apply double layers of mounting tape, cut in thin strips all the way around the frame and attach it to the card base. The double layer of mounting tape will allow for more depth for the scene.
- Use the scalloped rectangle die to cut a piece of white cardstock to use for the front snow layer. Cut the top using deckle scissors and then attach it to the front of the frame using double stick tape.
The Deer, Greenery and Birds
- Cut the deer family using white cardstock.
- Apply Antique Linen ink to the deer using a mini applicator.
- Apply darker shades of brown using Vintage Photo ink and a mini applicator.
- Apply white dots to the fawn using a white gel pen.
- Cut a sections of greenery using green cardstock.
- Cut a section of small birds using red cardstock and color their beaks using a black Copic marker.
- Hand punch several 1/16″ circles.
Assemble The Scene Pieces
- Tuck the 2 trimmed trees in behind the snow layer and attach to the scene base using thin strips of mounting tape.
- Tuck the buck in behind the two trees and attach to the scene base using mounting tape. I trimmed off a small portion of the rear of the buck to make it fit well behind the second tree.
- Apply double layers of mounting tape to the back of the doe and attach to the tree on the right side of the scene.
- Apply three layers of mounting tape to the back of the fawn and attach to the scene base. The third layer of mounting tape will allow the fawn to appear standing a little in front of the doe and well in front of the buck.
- Apply the tiny red circles to the tips of the greenery using glossy accents.
- Tuck the greenery sections behind the snow layers and around the fawn and doe’s feet and attach using glossy accents.
- Apply small piece of mounting tape to the birds and attach to the scene.
- Finish the scene by applying small pieces of foliage and tiny red circles to the neck of the fawn using glossy accents.
I especially love the fawn in the die cut deer family scene with it’s embellished neck and white spots. Adding the extra depth with the trees and buck in the background and the fawn and doe in the foreground created the appearance of dimension for the scene. The flying red bird in the sky draws the eye into the scene. Thanks so much for coming by today and I hope you have been inspired to create a festive holiday deer scene of your own.
