Good Saturday morning. Today I’m sharing a beautiful poinsettia Christmas card made using Rubbernecker’s new Poinsettia #2 Set paired with the Holly, Greenery and Borders #1 sets. The flower layers in the poinsettia set have a very natural shape and no two petals are exactly alike. I love how real the assembled flower looks.
The Decorative Base Layer
- Use the eyelet scalloped die to cut a white layer.
- Use the pierced scalloped layer to cut a pink layer.
- Attach the layers together using double stick tape.
- Attach the decorative layer to the card base using strips of mounting tape.
Forming and Assembling the Poinsettia
- Cut one full set of poinsettia layers using pink cardstock.
- Cut two of the largest flower using green cardstock.
- Cut the tiny flower centers using yellow cardstock.
- Apply Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick ink on the flower petals using mini applicators to add depth of color.
- Lay the flower sections face down on the molding pad and roll all the petals using the large round stylus tip.
- Lay the flower sections face up on the molding pad and push down in the center using the smaller round tip of the stylus.
- Begin assembling the flower by attaching the layers together using glossy accents. Off set the layers so no petals are lined over each other. I used two green layers on the bottom to create a full base.
- Form the tiny flower centers using a small tipped stylus and molding pad and attach in the flower center using glossy accents.
The Greenery and Holly
- Cut two sets of greenery using green cardstock.
- Cut three sets of holly using green cardstock and pink cardstock for the berries.
- Apply a light touch of Worn Lipstick ink to the berries to match the poinsettia.
- Apply glossy accents to the berry sections on the holly and pick up the individual berries using a jewelry picker and place on the berry sections. The jewelry picker is a fantastic tool to use when working with tiny pieces like the berries.
Create the Arrangement
- Apply glossy accents to the back of the poinsettia and attach it to the card base.
- Tuck the holly sections under the flower petals and attach with glossy accents.
- Tuck the greenery pieces under the holly and flower petals and attach with glossy accents.
- Finish by applying sparkle to the berries and flower center using the Spectrum Noir clear overlay pen.
The Big Shot Express
Have you been on the lookout for the Sizzix Big Shot Express? I know they have been impossible to find lately. I recently found them in stock at Scrapbook.com and Amazon. Scrapbook.com has theirs on sale for $90 less than Amazon. I thought I would mention this as it is a great deal. I use dies on all of my projects and I love that the Express saves wear and tare on my wrists from cranking. With that said I still have the Big Shot on my counter and keep it set up for using embossing folders
I hope you have been inspired to get out your poinsettia, holly and greenery dies to make a poinsettia Christmas card of your own. I sure do appreciate you coming by and I hope you have a great weekend.

Your beautifully shaped poinsettia card is so romantic! You do such a lovely job on creating blossoms. I like how you used the scalloped envelope shape as the background. It makes it even more feminine.
