Good Saturday morning. I have a snowy die cut wildlife scene card to share with you today. Rubbernecker released several new dies a few weeks ago with lots of options for making masculine cards. The Wildlife set that I used today includes elk, wolves and a bear. I wanted to create a more rustic scene using the bear and paired it with brown Twigs, a bare Winter Tree, Deckle Hills, Small Birds and 3 Pine Trees stamped in the background. The base was made using the Nested Rounded Corner Rectangle w/ Stitch.
The Scene Base
- Cut the rounded corner rectangle using blue cardstock.
- Secure the blue layer in the MISTI and stamp the trees on the background using Peeled Paint ink.
- Heat dry the ink on the trees and create a snowy appearance by dabbing on a layer of white embossing paste. using your finger.
- Apply strips of mounting tape on the back of the blue tree layer and attach it to the card base.
- Cut two lower portions of the rounded corner rectangle using white cardstock.
- Cut the white rounded corner rectangles again using the deckle hills to create the snow layers.
- Apply white embossing paste to the snow layers and allow to dry and then sprinkle on clear glitter.
- Apply mounting tape to the snow layers and attach them to the blue base layer.
The Bear, Twigs and Birds
- Cut the bear, tree and twigs using white cardstock and color using a brown Copic marker.
- Apply touches of white embossing powder to the branches of the tree and the twigs using a dabbing motion with a spatula and then sprinkle on clear glitter.
- Note: The alcohol ink does not allow the color to come up through the white embossing paste like the Distress Ink does. See the faint green color coming through on the stamped trees.
- Color the bear all over using Antique Linen ink using a mini applicator.
- Apply a darker shade of brown with Vintage Photo ink using a mini applicator.
- Check out my Coloring Die Cut Animals tutorial to see steps of how I colored the bear.
- Cut small strips of mounting tape and attach to the back of the tree, tuck it in behind the snow layers and attach to the card base.
- Apply mounting tape to the back of the bear, tuck him in behind the snow layers and attach to the card base.
- Tuck the twigs in behind the snow layers and around the bear and attach with glossy accents.
- Cut the birds using red cardstock and color their beaks with a black Copic marker.
- Gently form the birds using the rounded stylus and molding pad and attach them in the scene using small pieces of mounting tape.
I think this rustic die cut wildlife scene is perfect to use for a masculine Christmas, birthday or any occasion. I think the sparkly snow adds so much interest to the scene. I would not ant to run into this big bear out in the woods but I really like seeing him in my scene. Thanks for coming by today and I hope you enjoy your day.
