Today I’m sharing a colorful tri fold lighthouse card. This is the first time I’ve made a tri fold card and I thought the lighthouse, boats and ocean waves were the perfect images to create a continuous scene all the way across the three folds. I used the Rubbernecker Lighthouse, Waves, Deckle Hills, Boats #1, Sun Moon, Small Birds, Grass #2 and Palm Trees. The palm trees are in a new release that will be coming soon.
The Cloud, Waves and Sand
- Cut an 8 1/2″ by 11″ piece of cardstock in half lengthwise to create the card base.
- Apply clouds to the card base using a cloud stencil, ink blending tool and Tumbled Glass ink.
- Cut a wave piece to fit across the whole card base using aqua cardstock. Place an 11″ piece of cardstock on cutting platform, place the die at one end of the cardstock and cut.
- Place the wave die at the end of the first cut, lining up the ends and cut a second time.
- Attach the wave section to the card base using double stick tape.
- Place the card base on the Scor-Pal and score at 3 5/8″ and 7 3/8″.
- Hint: My Scor-Pal has the the tri fold measurements indicated on the top with two diamonds. I don’t know if those markings are on the new Scor-Pal Eighths.
- Cut three sand sections using the Deckle Hills, apply Antique Linen ink directly to the paper using the ink pad and heat dry.
- Attach the sand sections to the card base using double stick tape.
The Lighthouse and Boats
- Cut the lighthouse sections using white and red cardstock.
- Assemble the pieces and attach together using glossy accents.
- Save the left over pieces to create a lighthouse for a future project.
- Cut the boats out using red and blue cardstock.
- Assemble the pieces and attach together using glossy accents.
- Tuck the lighthouse in behind the sand and attach to the card base using strips of mounting tape.
- Tuck the boats in behind the wave sections and attach with pieces of mounting tape.
Finish the Tri Fold Lighthouse Card.
- Cut the sun using yellow cardstock and attach the pieces together using double stick tape.
- Apply sparkle to the sun using a sparkle pen.
- Cut the palm tree sections using brown and green cardstock.
- Assemble pieces and attach together using glossy accents.
- Cut the small birds using white cardstock and apply markings using a gray marker.
- Cut a few grass sprigs using green cardstock.
- Tuck the palm trees in behind the sand and attach using pieces of mounting tape.
- Apply a piece of mounting tape to the back of the sun and attach in the sky area of the card base.
- Cut tiny pieces of mounting tape, apply to the back of the birds and attach them to the sky area of the card base.
- Tuck a few grass sprigs around the base of the palm trees and attach using glossy accents.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my tri fold lighthouse card. I will definitely be making more of this fun layout. It creates lots of space to create a full scene. Today is the last day of the Rubbernecker Memorial Day sale. Thanks for coming by and I hope you have a wonderful holiday.
