Beach Pop Up Card

Summer is here and I had so much fun making this beach pop up card with all of these iconic beach images.  I used the new Rubbernecker Lifeguard Tower, Beach Umbrellas, Woody Die and Palm Trees paired with the Beach Chairs, Waves, Deckle Hills, Sun Moon, Knob Top Fence (turned upside down), Grass #2 and Small Birds.  I used The Paper Cut Square Pop Up Box Card kit for the base of my card.

Come see how I made this bright beach pop up card.

The Box Base and Layers

  • Use the bone folder to reinforce all the score lines .
  • Cut the designer paper layering pieces.
  • Apply double stick tape to the back of all the layering pieces and attach to the inside back cover and flaps and the outside sections of the box sections.
  • Apply double stick tape to the side insert flap, line the box sides up and attach the two ends together to form the box.
  • Cut wave and sand insert sections using blue and Kraft cardstock.  Cut, score both ends at 1/2″ in.
  • Fold the wave and sand insert tabs, apply double stick tape to each tab and insert the tabs to the inside of the box.
  • Attach sand layers to the box flaps using double stick tape.
  • Note:  The kit comes with three inserts for each box.  I used five strips instead of three to create a fuller looking water and sand area in the box opening.

Come see how I made this colorful beach pop up card.

Assemble the Die Cut Images

  • Assemble the lifeguard tower pieces using mounting tape and glossy accents and attach to the card base using mounting tape.
  • Assemble the Woody pieces using glossy accents and mounting tape and attach to the sand section using glossy accents.
  • Use glossy accents to assemble the palm trees and attach them to the card base using glossy accents and mounting tape.
  • Attach the sun to the card base using glossy accents.
  • Cut the chairs and tuck them in between the sand layers and attach using mounting tape.
  • Use glossy accents to attach the white umbrella layers to the red and attach to the front flap using mounting tape.
  • Cut one fence section into four pieces, tuck them in behind the sand sections and attach using glossy accents. Note: I turned the fence upside down and trimmed the bottom layer using my deckle scissors to make it appear more rustic like an old fence.

The Finishing Touches

  • Attach a yellow surf board to the left flap area  and a red and white hand cut ball to the right flap using mounting tape.
  • Attach sprigs of grass in between the sand sections using glossy accents.
  • Create a towel by cutting thin strips of red cardstock and attach them to white cardstock using glossy accents.   Fringe the ends using snips and attach it to the chair using glue dots.
  • Finish by attaching flying birds to the sky area of the flaps using mounting tape.

Come see how I made this fun beach pop up card.

This beach pop up box card was so much fun to make.  Sadly,  the pictures didn’t show off the waves in the correct color and don’t really do the card justice.  That just seems to be how it goes with me and photography.  I should probably go and take lessons.  Thanks for coming by and I hope you have a great day.

  1. Amazing card Kittie…this had to take forever. Great that you can get a pack of the box cards…love the chairs…taller than our Adirondack chairs we have had for years.

  2. Oh wow, these are so impressive, I would have a hard time giving these away. I think they would just be on permanent display.
