Snowy Z Fold Christmas Card

Today I’m sharing a snowy Z Fold Christmas Card with a pretty house decorated for the holidays and deer playing in the trees in the front yard.  I modified the Rubbernecker Stamps Spooky House (I love that house) and paired it with the Tree in Oval, Pine Tree Forest, Wildlife, Deckle Hills, Borders #3, Greenery #1 and Small Birds.  I used the Splatter Background to apply snow to all the trees. 

Card Base and Box

• Use the pre-scored Easel card kit to create the base.
• Use the Borders die to cut the decorative eyelet border on both sides of the card base.
• Cut the 11.00″ x 1.50″ Deckle Hill layer using the strip from the kits.  Note:  place the strip of white cardstock on the cutting platform, place the die at one end and run through the machine.  Place the die where the first die cut ended, line it up and run through the machine a second time.
• Cute an additional 11.00 x 1.50″ Deckle Hill layer, score it at 2.75″ and 5.50″ and attach it to the card base.
• Score the front Deckle Hills layer at 5.50″ and 8.25″.
• Apply double stick tape on both ends of the back of the Deckle Hills layer and attach to the card base.
• Cut three Deckle Hill ground layers 2.75″ x 1.00″″ and and attach to the insert strips from the kit using double stick tape. 
• Score the insert layers at .50″ on each end.  Fold left side forward and the right side backwards.
• Apply double stick tape to the folded tab ends of the grass inserts and attach them inside the box.

The Trees

• Cut three Trees in Oval and several Pine Tree Forest sections using green cardstock. Note:  I cut pieces of cardstock just large enough for cutting the large tree out of the frame. 
• Gently rub the Magic Embossing Bag over all the trees to help remove static from the cardstock.
• Apply white pigment ink to the Splatter Background and stamp all the trees.
• Apply white embossing powder to the trees and heat with the heat gun.
• Tuck the Pine Tree Forest sections in behind the snow layers on the back and side card base and attach using small pieces of mounting tape.
• Attach two of the larger trees to the front panel of the card base with mounting tape.
• Apply mounting tape to the largest tree and attach to the back wall of the card base using three layers of mounting tape. Note:  I attached the large tree directly over the smaller line of trees on the card base.  I liked that the larger and smaller trees filled the space..

The House

• Cut the house using blue cardstock and the roof sections using white cardstock.
• To modify the house cut off the tall pointed roof section on the left side.
• Attach the white roof sections to the house using strips of rolled up double stick tape and glossy accents.
• Attach the windows and doors to the house using Connect glue.   Note:  I like to use the Connect glue to attach small items like the windows because it dries perfectly clear and does not leave a shine like glossy accents.  Glossy Accents is still my glue of choice when attach items like foliage and flowers, etc. 
• Cut several sections of greenery using green cardstock.
• Use greenery tips to create the window decorations and roof top wreath and attach them using glossy accents.
• Punch out red 1/8″ circles and attach them to the wreath and window decorations using glossy accents.
• Apply mounting tape to the back of the house, tuck it in behind the snow layer and attach to the card base.

The Deer, Greenery, Birds and Falling Snow

• Cut the deer using white cardstock.
• Apply Antique Linen ink over the whole body of the deer using a mini applicator.
• Add darker shading to the deer body and antlers using Vintage Photo ink and a mini applicator.
• Apply a good amount of glossy accents to the legs of the left facing deer and attach to the snow layer.
• Tuck the left facing deer in behind the snow layer and attach to the tree using a piece of mounting tape. 
• Apply glossy accents to small pieces of greenery and attach them in behind the snow layers.
• Use small pieces of mounting tape to attach several red birds to the card base.
• Finish the scene by attaching small round circles to the card base and house using Connect glue to create falling snow.  Note:  I save all the small circles that come out of the decorative dies like the ones from the eyelet border.  I love how the popped up circles add a little bit of dimension.
